    Don't remove me from the swap, but I won't be able to contribute for a couple months. Just had shoulder surgery Friday. Only have one hand to use for at least 6 weeks. Haven't decided on a pattern just yet. Probably a bass fly.

    I just came off the local river and those big trout (20" plus) are slurping those emergers all around me and I just can't get them to take my offering.  I could use about a dozen of those now.  I guess I'd better start making up a batch of those myself if I need them for this coming weekend.

    NO NO , Its all good Skewl It is a great experience and learning tool for you . I have a lot of flys to tye for the 10 Anniversary lacrosse meet anyways. Ol jw and I do are best to make sure these swaps go as good as we can, and this year is no different in those terms.

    I would send them to project healing waters or casting for recovery so there is never a shortage of places to send them.

    Just a quick note to all the tyers, I'll be contacting you all with the mailing address here after a bit. As for me I'm taking advantage of some surely missed hard water right about now. Got to working on my flies then wanted to go fishing ya know, so I made up some flies to try under the ice for panfish, so much for cabin fever!

    bass or bass your flies are in, Although I check the forum daily, I don't always write in, No worries mate, I'm getting in on some much needed hard water time, an here in central Indiana when you get good hard water well you go fishing. Not to mention somebody's gotta clean these cool kitty's. All is well, theres just about 2 weeks left before the flies are due.

    Nice channels!! I love catfishing as much as fly fishing! I combined the two last year when I caucht a 6 pound channel cat on my 5/6 weight fly rod while fishing for sunfish for flathead cat bait. caught it on a red wet fly. Took @ 10 minutes to boat it!

    I will try and send mine out tomorrow. Apologies for the delays, but Winter Storm Nemo, my sister's problematic trip to Canada, a grease fire, an ear infection and trying desperately to get all of my Eagle scout paperwork in by my birthday (the 27th of this month) has made it difficult for me to get enough free time together to finish and mail the flies.     I finished my flies today. It is a #4 streamer called a Sunny Delight Blonde. I have only used it in salt water for Stripers and Bluefish but it is supposedly a good bait-fish imitator for other species. I'll be sending them out on Monday.

    My flies were (finally) mailed out on Friday. Again, I sincerely apologize for the delay. I live in the country and only make runs into town maybe 2-3 times a week, but definitely had to get these flies in the mail before I leave town again for another 2-3 weeks playing Navy. I look forward to getting some new flies to play with from this swap. I tied up and sent in a dozen tiger midges in sizes 22 and 24. Many people may not use them, but they are, without a doubt, my family's number one go-to fly for Czech nymphing the local rainbows and we get them in sizes over 18" often on those tiny midges.

    Finishing up the packaging, everyone's flies go out first thing Monday, March 18.2013. So depending on where you live, all flies should be delivered by Friday.

    I also like the mouse/rat fly.  I'll bet the large brown trout will kill it around here.  But it's usually bass I'm after with those frogs and rats.  A great bunch of flies, that's for sure.  Thanks everyone.

    Good links, rodtosser, thanks. That may very well be my problem since I'm still on my first patch of deer hair from Bass Pro which I got last summer I believe. Maybe the patches available right now were harvested in late fall. I'll do a little more research. The bare shank thing is new to me as well, I always started with a thread base and then tried it.

    Also, Ol JW thanks for the forceps! I PM'd you thinking you had put them in there by mistake. Now I don't have to use my big Rapala pliers for the tiny flies I find myself using in the dog days of summer.

    thread base is fine If your staking deer hair because you don't want the stack to spin you just stack top then bottom or one color on top of the other then hold the bundle so it don't spin around the shank . the other trick is to pack it tight You can use a bic pen with the ink part removed to pack the hair with . http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&...=186&ty=81
