Hey everybody, here is a list I compiled of miscellaneous information about ice fishing gear. Not necessarily about fishing tips, but about gear prep, etc. Hope someone finds this helpful! This redneck girl’s done her homework Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

    Basic Check List
    •Buy 2007 license ('06 license further
    north Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->)
•Clean and oil reels with reel oil
•Strip a few feet of line off the end of
    your reels/tip-ups
•Buy hand warmers or fluid, depending on
    style of warmers
•Stock up on basic terminal tackle.
•Put fuel in auger and test it. Sharpen
    blades and order replacements if
    necessary
•Set up ice fishing shelter. Make sure
    all parts are there
    •Replace/recharge batteries for 2-way
    radios/cell phone
    •Marinade jerky 24 hours in advance. I
always forget it takes 24 hours to make Roll Eyes<!--graemlin::rolleyes:-->
•Make sure your truck has snow tire
chains in the back, or even just old
shingles from a doghouse for traction Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

    Other tips I learned:

    • An article about gear prep http://bangordailynews.com/news/t/outdoors.aspx?articleid=127054&zoneid=267
    • Spraying cooking spray on the bottom of your sled sheds snow and makes your sled seem lighter
    • I got my auger from Strikemaster and on their website you can buy a great pair of fleece-lined leather mittens for $8. Cabelas had the same thing for $25 http://www.strikemaster.com/store.html they’re hooded sweatshirts look cool too... I might have to go buy one Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->
    • Sportsman’s Guide has great deals on boots. I got a great pair of boots for $25 and they’re really warm and waterproof http://www.iceaugers.com/

Also, some other links I found:
Ice auger care and maintenance: http://www.strikemaster.com/careservice.html
    Tips, etc http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/winter/wintera.aspx
    More cool stuff http://www.fishermansexpress.com/batters.html
    Fish Crisp: http://www.cajunsupermarket.com/product_info.php?products_id=875

Heck, even strike master has their own fish batter http://www.strikemaster.com/store/cooking.html

I will DEFINITELY try all kinds of seasonings and recipes with ALL the fish I'm planning for this year! Razzer<!--graemlin::p--> Wink<!--graemlin:;)--> Smiler<!--graemlin::)-->
