looking for tip-ups that hold a fishing rod/reel.seen these on a fishing show a couple of weeks ago and can't remember who made them.they were using these for lake trout, browns and pike.no more freezing hands while hand reeling them in.found one that is made by clam.was wondering if anyone else made them.

Are you thinking of the Automatic Fisherman? I've seen them at Gander Mountain. They come with the fishing rod and reel combo. You can also Google search Automatic Fisherman and go directly to their website.

hey red, when i lived in mi. i made them out of old cane poles and fly reals. worked great as long as it wasn't below zero. i would use the mid section and tie on rod eyelets-- the big ones-- and put an fly fishing real on the handle part-- the free spool ones with clickers-- then put on dacron line to fill the spool and then tie on a leader line for the working end of it. the last few years i also gotmy hands on a couple of old glass rods and put reals on them and been doing good with them, as a jigging pole or a set rod with minnows. also farmer red i would like to ask what part of ohio are ya from? i just moved here to the ashtabula area around thanksgiving. looking for all the help i can get on fishing and hunting inthis state of ohio.

I saw them in Gander Mountain last weekend. Gander Mountain has a great selection of ice fishing gear, including augers. I was very impressed with their selection...just not their prices!

I agree Wayne they have things or colors of lures that no one else carries. But your going to pay for them.

MR.BILL,that's a good idea.may give that a try.i have several old rods sitting around.i live southwest of your area.about 25 east of indian lake.indian lake is great for saugeye, crappie, and channel cats.not sure about public land in that area but, private land is very tough to get.there's great public land in southeast ohio.only 3-4 hr.drive from there.i mostly hunt private land here but,it's disappearing slowly.

I have found Fleet Farm to have a FAR better selection, and better prices than Gander.

i found blueprints to make my own online.  Gotta be careful though because in some states its illegal to use a spring to hook fish and a loaded fishing rod counts as a spring unless the reel is on freespool
