check out sno-bear also, talk about a rig that does allthe work, and keeps you at a balmy temp too, all the time you could send indoors and yet still chasing those pesky schools of perch that seem to always be where you are not. will be time to drill some holes soon. |

here is another design for your motorized winter ice fun, it is called the yooper crawler, and is made right in Michigan, for all you yoopers out there. http://www.yoopercrawler.com/ this design, I am not sure about floatation, does not advertise that it can anyway. Oh to have soemone elses blank check to spend, what fun you could have in all of these, I like the Wil-Craft too, just showing you there are others out there. I am drooling just looking at them. I was thinking that an alternative would be easily attainable if you could locate a military M274 and retrofit a shell on it that hung over both sides, you could have people sit back to back and fish, (the M274 or mechanical mule is a flat bed cart that is motorized from the Vietnam era military vehicle, and can be driven either riding on it , or walking behind it, it weighs around 990lbs, but load capacity on the cart is 1000lbs, and with that load is claimed to be able to climb 60 degree grade. I wish I could find one in my price range). big toys for big boys hehe. |

the sno bear is 2900lbs supposedly for base model, I highly doubt it could climb out of a hole like the wil craft can, ( especially because you would thin the skis would hang up on the ice. I love the wil crafts ability to do this, but if you are going to the north woods and looking for a shelter that is warmer and can substitute as a sleeping shack, the sno bear would work better, the real problem is the cost, base 2010 model going for around $39 Gs, whos got that kind of money, but if you are in the market for a sleeper trailer I guess this would not be too far of the new sleeper trailers. I personally have a frabil speed shack Xl and love it, especially for day trips, and that is kind of how wil- craft is built with the "tent upper" it is just the over night trips yuo need lodging though, I love the fact that the wil craft can fit in an enclosed trailer too so you do not have to worry about storage, set it up, put it in the trailer, and roll away, then any time you are going fishing everything is right where it has to be. Please do not read this wrong, I would love a wil craft, I was just bringing to light other designs not that I love one style more or less than the others. they are all cool and all have their own styles of fishing they accomidate, I definitely like the ability of some of these to roll over drilled holes and dropping over them with a touch of a button, and then time to move to the next spot, another push and you are ready to run. |

the 2900lbs though when figured on the dimensions of the track and calculating pounds per square inch, would be about 13 lbs psi. so if you are worried about it, get a heavy friend and have him walk out on the ice in front of you, if he goes in you know you should not go in, ( figuring a 290 lb guy with 12 inch shoes will put stress on the ice at around 12lbs per square inch if my calculations are right. I am not a mathmatician though, have a great day all. |
