The crew of the Jersey Devil, out of Cape May, NJ, hauled in a 553lb thresher shark, it was caught some distance offshore, within about 35 miles of Ocean City, NJ on a rigged mackerel. The fish was fought for 6 hours, the hook was set not long after the last line was out and the chum slick started. It was weighed in at the Canyon Club Marina, Cape May, NJ. The catch was a group effort among the crew and was caught on a Penn International 50VSW and matching Penn International rod..
