    Hey '151;

    Nice pins. I have caught one, once, but have had several eat my bait. I was told that they are pretty hard to catch and that they are notorious for steeling bait.

    What size hook were you using to catch them, and were you trying to catch them or something else? You say they are pretty good to eat? Like I said, only ever caught one, and let it go.

    Sure are pretty fish. Pics just don't do them justice!

    Thanks for sharing your catch with us,

    If at first you don't succeed, maybe you shouldn't try sky diving!

    Hey 151...went out yesterday and battled 20 knot winds and a strong current all for one keeper. Not even worth posting a pic. We caught a bunch of shorts, but they went back to grow bigger. I also lost my wreck anchor...really pissed. It got stuck in the rocks and I was unable to retrieve it. But anyways, Blackfish fight hard. When there hooked they make a b-line for the rocks. You need stout tackle for this type of fishing. Expect a lot of hang ups and losing a lot of rigs in the rocks or wreck your fishing, but they are well worth the effort. They make great table fare. I will be going out soon, in the next day or so...hopefully with better weather conditions.

    Guess what '151? Florida could potentially be carried away by crappie...you're surrounded by 'em! Where ever you find bluegill(bream down your way) you should find crappie. By the way, they call 'em SPECKS down there. Boy, this smiley with the Christmas lights is killing me!

    Working on a charter was a dream of mine when I was a kid, unfortunately, being landlocked here in the hills of southern Ohio, it just never transpired. Then later in life, I dreamed of retirement and buying a fishing boat and going to florida....that was interrupted by early retirement due to a bad ticker. You're a lucky guy '151, you'll learn many things working on that boat. I hope you'll keep us updated as to your adventures!
