I received an order for some assorted walleye jigs.  The painted jigs were sent to me and I put some feathers on them...

The pics are a little dark but I think you can get the idea.  I only have 20 more to do...  Please feel free to add comment and / or pics of your own!   These are 1/8 and 1/16 oz. jigs.

Thanks for the complements, guys!  But anyone can make these.  It just takes a little practice.  The hard part is trying to find a pattern that catches fish, wherever that may be!  I'll post the last 20 when I get them finished.

it looks like those lessons  paid off  Pete.  remember you can  Tye  fly patterns on a jig head .
just make sure you have the hook in the vice the right way  or your pattern will be upside down .

Excellent work Pete. The patterns and colors all look to be a perfect fit. We all know it takes time and patience and I'm certain the young fella will love testing them out. BTW...I posted a couple pics of the trout and salmon lures turnip made for me to test on the trout/salmon up here. They're posted in the "Trout/Salmon" section.

This is some of the stuff I am donating to the Ohio meet for 2010...

These are all 1/8 oz jigs that I painted and tied.  I am currently tying some 1/16 oz jigs for the same meet.

    Nice jigs Pete!

You have a couple of patterns that work real well out here.

That chartruce with the white tail has been good for Walleye and Smallmouth.

Another good one is a chartruce body with a orange tail.

The smaller ones, 1/16 to 1/8th for panfish and trout.

1/8th to 1/4 for Smallmouth and Walleye.

You also have one in the first bunch, a white with a chartruce head.

Trade out the white tincle thread for orange or black or both.

    Outstanding work buddy.

You need to number the darn things, lol.

Well Turnip seems you got me motivated to tie some feathers onto some 16th oz. jigs I've poured. Just straight feathers no body wrap with turkey feathers. I'm looking to mimic tuffy minnows, I hope. If they don't look to bad I'll try to post the pictures.

Whenever I am experimenting, gathering ideas or just building up the nerve to tie a new style streamer, I will often resort to tying a few jigs...

Sometime in early July I will tie a new pattern streamer (for me).  Hopefully I will do a good enough job to put it in the fly swap this winter...

You can tie streamers on jig heads have you thought off using colored glitter or frosted fingernail polish for the thread wraps .
dont be afraid to run colored permanent markers over the body browns and blacks are amongst my faves .

Rod, You are going to have to explain the humming bird again. I have tried finding a case for it, but I get a funny look from the people at Michael's

Earlier this year my wife asked me to make some jigs with the feathers on them for the church bazaar.  So, this spring I painted and tied some up (about a 100 of the rascals).  Today I managed to finish them up   ...

All the jigs will be donated to the church fellowship group...I didn't think I would ever get done!

A couple of weeks ago, at the Finger Lakes Meet, Susan (Ishouldbefishin) gave me some feathers from her chickens.  I must say that these birds are show birds (IMHO)!  So I tied up some jigs for her and her daughter...

These are 1/16 oz jigs that I painted and tied.  Hopefully Susan & Celeste will remember me when they hook ito a fish with one of these puppies!

Those jigs are so cool!!! We will tease the crappie with those for sure! Might even get some big bluegills or trout! I love them, thanks!!!
I used to get to fish a whole lot more than as of late. But I still love it and long to become the hopeless addict that I once was able to be.

I am bringing this back up so that others can add to it. I still need to do a "how to" topic for this!

I tie my own jigs and flies and am going to start selling them to local tackle shops. I don't have any pictures though.
