A thought recently occurred to me: Would it be possible to modify a traditional spinner, such as a Rooster Tail, Panther Martin, etc., and add a second blade to the lure? And would it work? How would you do it? Or does a lure like this already exist and I simply do not know about it and has anybody out there thought about trying this? You would think a spinner with two blades would have twice the action, right? Wouldn't the vibration and the sight of the two spinning blades entice a hesitant trout? I am very curious to here peoples thoughts on this.

Twin bladed inlines have been around quite a while I believe...well...for musky and pike. I don't know of any for trout and bass, but if I could find one, I'd give it a try. Here's one made by Blue Fox called the Musky Twin Turbo.

I would imagine something as you described already exists as Mo just posted a pic. Now does one exist specifically for trout? I don't know, BUT this is America...You can do whatever, or modify a bait however you'd like! The only way to know if it's going to work, is to make one (if doesn't already exist) and get out there and try it. Another member from another forum has made me a custom saltwater spinner bait. I've been tossing that thing till my shoulder is about ready to fall off..lol I'm not quite ready to give up on it yet. There's something about making your own lure or even tying your own rigs...much more satisfaction when you hook up and land a fish on something you've created or modified or even tied.

Thanks mo and Barresi! Why wouldn't that lure mo posted work on a trout? Unless maybe its too big since its for pike and muskie. I realized after I posted this that spinnerbaits technically have two blades but I was thinking more about the traditional spinner for trout. I'm always looking for new weapons against them because I hate getting skunked!  Maybe I will fiddle around with some Rooster Tails and see if I can add a second blade.

I have never seen a small sized inline with 2 blades anywhere. You could probably make one from the parts in one of those building kits they sell in various places like Jann's.

There is a spinner attachment that you can find at most tackle shops some with 2 blades some with one this is an inline spinner.. Your spinner, fly or hook with bait attaches to the back end. I have used them for years to increase the flash and profile. I use them primarily for panfishing but I have caught a number of bass and a few northerns using this set up. Blue Fox makes a double bladed spinner. you could also try a jig spinner to see how it works.

I'm with Pegsguy, I'd go out and get one of the inline spinner kits and mess around with it. Maybe try different blade combos, a Panther Martin style and clevis blade combo might be interesting. I'd love to hear how this works out, keep us posted if you decide to try it out!

I have a number of lures I bought from a bargain bin, made by the Edwin Weller Co. of Sioux city IA and these lures are double bladed and similar to a "Mepps Minnow". This company is out of business. Another one which came out a few years ago was the "double cowgirl", from a small business in the midwest, Larry Dahlberg is a friend of those people.

That's interesting. Larry Dahlberg is very innovative in the lure department. Just look at his River2sea lures, my personal favorite brand FYI. Wish he would do more trout lures instead of mainly bass.

yes you can : you have to put the clevises so they are one inside the other so the top of the bottom part here goes under the bottom of the bottom there [ so they are slightly offset each other so you will be making a square []

Double inlines have been around for years

The "double cowgirl" setup was originally a muskie application with big blades....but there are smaller 6" versions also made for bass...but I don't know of any TINY ones made for trout

Here's some pics with double blade ideas for you guyz...including a couple of Heddon Hep double spinners

I have parts to make just about any design at the moment. The chenile body lures are for sale too...as I have too many

Larry's been tying for at least 30+ years at this point. You can find more info on his exploits over the years just by doing a search for his name

I believe he started tying larger things about 20 years ago...as he got into fishing for saltwater fish with a flyrod

He's mostly tied stuff for bigger fish...as there are SO many other folks that can & HAVE tied trout stuff.

And if your manual dexterity isn't up to dressing your own trebles, dressed trebles are not hard to find.
