I'm really getting excited about spring. I really enjoy bluegill, and I will be sinking nine Christmas trees around my pond to create some more fishing spots. I'm hoping this year I can get another 2 lb plus gill, and maybe a bigger one!!!
What I have noticed about bigger bluegill is that they typically like slightly deeper water( like most larger fish of any species), and like any normal big fish, like to stuff there faces. I will usually cut a nightcrawler in half and cast around cover in deeper water (about 7-12 ft). Not only am I where the fish are, I have bait that is too big for the dinks too take, so I up my chance of a bigger gill ( also, the same applies with artificial bait. Using a little more seems to entice bigger fish).
