I use tube jigs and catch a lot, color depends on the water and weather. Also you can slow troll with them and produce fish.

Tube jigs. White & pink has been hot for us the past couple of years.

I've had success with a Strike King Series 6 fished near concrete structure on a cloudy day. Also, a Bomber Bill Dance Flat A works well on panfish.

minnows dont even compare to tube jigs in the spring time when the crappie are spawning. i see a lot of "fishermen" fishing with minnows and bobbers not catching anything right next to me. while im up in the shallows catching big slabs on tube jigs.

Since I can't use minnows where I live. I would say live shad when you can catch them. If not I like the gitzit hard time minnows.
