    In one of the ponds I regularly fish, there are several species of sunfish coexisting together.  I was wondering how I can tell a hybrid apart from a regular Bluegill or Pumpkinseed Sunfish.

    When I have a hard time identifying any one species, I call it a hybrid. Small lakes and ponds generally have a high hybridization of sunfishes, or at least from what I've caught.
