Johnson Silver Minnow, but use the bronze color. It's weedless  and casts nice. Silver in the sunshine and bronze when overcast. Great classic Northern Pike lure.

Ray....you talking about the gold one? I can't recall a "bronze" one.

Have a few copper ones though.

I've found that pike will go crazy just before a rain.....when it's overcast....but hasn't started raining YET. Heavy rain seems to shut them down...but a few sprinkles don't seem to bother them.

right as a storm moves into an  area the pike seem to turn on hot and heavy--i would think muskie would too, but i don't have that experance yet.--but once the heavy rains start, it's like a switch was turned off.

in thick weeds, the silver minow is the best thisng i have ever found to use. but you should be able to get a pike to bite about anything ya want to throw at them. spinnerbaits work great also in the weeds and alond the edges of weeds and dropoffs. 1 rule of thumb is dark the day or the water darker the bait. don't be affraid to bulk up the bait a bit, by adding a rubber worm to it.one of my favorites is a black spinner with a touch of red on the skirt with a neon blue worm on the hook.
