Like I've said numerous times here on the BB....fall is the time for big fish to fatten up for the winter.

IF you fish waters with toothy critters....start out with a wire leader. IF you don't get any actionin the 1st 20 minutes....then fish the same spot for OTHER species

Pike...and muskie to a certain extent...will shut down a bass / walleye / panfish / perch bite in a HEARTBEAT

IF they stop biting...then they have either moved...or toothy critters are in the are

I have learned that if the water you are fishing holds Pike and Muskie, it's a good idea to keep a rod rigged for them handy at this time of year no matter what you are fishing for. Just about a year ago I was fishing for crappie with a Matzuo Prism Grub and hooked a 25" Northern. I keep what is left of the lure on my fishing workbench to remind me. Tom

That Daredevle will probably still catch fish even with some scratches. My Prizm Grub is only half it's former self, the back half is just gone. Tom

That's fine, just remember to replace it in your tackle box with something similar if not identical. Tom

I don't often lose fish. The northern that took the back half of my grub was landed, measured and released. I would have posted a picture, but I was out Crappie fishing and didn't have the camera! Tom
