If you troll, try to just clip the tops of the weeds, as they are starting to fill in good now. Some places they are only 1 to 2 feet below the surface. The best spot for skis on the lake is the Mile Roads. You can cast, or troll, they will hit on just about anything from pike and bass lures to big sucker minnows 6 to 8 inches long. Have fun!

I hear guys have been hookin' into smallies over by Selfridge, and when the water warms they fish in 8 to 10 feet of water for them at the mouth of the little bay there. The weeds have just exploded out there too. Faster than last year, but the warm weather the last 2 weeks of May helped that out a lot.

From New Baltimore, your closest ramp looks like Brandenberg Park on Jefferson. Which is off 29 as you're leaving out of town proper on the west side. There's a Clark station on the southside of the street, and a Sunoco on the north side. It's a 3 way intersection, with a traffic light right there. The other ramp is the DNR ramp in Fair Haven that would be the closest. You need to head east out of town like you're heading to Algonac, and it's just a bit passed Bud's, but that's not the name anymore, it's just what everybody has called it for years. There's a Rachel's Diner on the right, and Downriggers Bar and Grill on the left. If you get to Palms rd, you just missed it. If those are full, continue on passed Palms rd on 29, and go to the road where the last building is on the right. That is Anchor Bay Dr. take a right on the that rd, and follow it all the way back, and stay to the right. There is a DNR launch back there that will open into the mouth of the North Channel into Lake St Clair. Nice thing about Fair Haven launch, is Blue Bait and Tackle is right across the parking lot.

Oh, one last place not too much further down the road from Brandenburg, is a launch by Selfridge. Just stay on Jefferson heading south past the park, and go all the way down to the 4 way intersection before you get to the base, and hang a left. Go to the end of that road, as there's a launch on the right and Angler's Point Marina Bait and Tackle on the left. I think they have cottages there, and wells for those who stay there so you're not launching and retrieving everytime you want to go out. Just an idea is all.

I have fond memories of Algonac. My great grandparents had house on the North Channel about a mile down river from the Harsens Island Ferryboats, at the Middle Channel Junction. Was a great place fro a kid growin' up and spending every holiday week off school there, and most summers, and weekends helping the grandparents and boating and fishing.

    Hope this helps!

    No trouble cadman!

Just a word of warning. Make sure you set your drag so that if something like a monster pike or muskie hits, you won't lose your gear. I was out this morning, and the water was crystal clear over the weedbeds, and I spotted a muskie that had to be one of those 50+ pounders. I swear the length from the tip of the snout to the back of the gill plate had to have been over a foot. This thing just sat there, and didn't even care about me passin' by it trolling. Spotted a few smallies too, so they may be seeking the cooler water that comes over the flats from the north channel into Anchor Bay. But there were largemouths too. Lots of perch and gills in there still goin' after the mayflies on the surface. So that probablty eplains the all the panfish and other preditors, since the area is usually just chock full of pike. Which are becoming my favorite table  fare, as I learned a good way to clean them so they taste great! Even cooking they have sweet aroma.

Hey cadman, just a little note, across from Rachel's is the Hook Line and Sinker. Downriggers is up in Algonac, and used to be Henry's when I was a kid.
