Spring and fall are great for striper in SC , but summer is awesome at night ! Between 22:00 and 02:00 are best , the big boys come out to play ! Nothing in the world like landing a nice size striper !

We enjoy the fight. lite tackle spinning rods. sometime before the summer is over, I want to get one on the fly. That would be a blast!

That sounds like a hell of a fight there FnF! Keep us posted on your progress . A fella I work with went a guided striper expedition and the guide insisted they use light weight rods with only 4 lb test ! They talked him up to 12lb but say he caught a mess of them on 4 .

Had a great nite Wens. got 5 Wipers and 3 cats, 2 nice 4 lbs. Wipers were not as big as we had been catching. biggest was 4 lbs. How big are the average Wiper in SC? State record in NJ is 16 lbs. something, most of ours are around 5-6 lbs. had a 7 or 8 up to the boat last year and lost it. Rookie guy on the net, I think he was more excited than I was. He felt really bad about loosing the fish. would have been nice to boat it, but it was still one hell of a fight.

Man , thats heart breaking when you get a fish to the boat and can't net it ! If a wiper is a hybrid bass the state record here is 5.4/8 lbs. caught on lake Murray  , where I go . The record striper is 59.8 lbs caught in lake Hartwell SC . I plan on breaking that one soon ! Along with the state record for largemouth bass, 16.2 lbs( Lake Marion) and Longnose Gar, 25.6 lbs (lake Murray) I came pretty close to the Gar record this spring , was actually stiper fishing and hooked one at @ 20lbs . Our state record for white crappie is also on Lake Murray but has been standing since 1949 at 5.1 lbs . Pretty long time !
