I've been getting the cold shoulder from the local stripers far too often lately with my Storm swimbait so I went out and got a Hopkins NO=EQL in 2oz size and a Kastmaster in 1.5 oz. I wanted to know which works best on river stripers from a pier up here in lower New England, or if there's a better one that I should get.

I'm not familiar with the Hopkins spoons but I'm very familiar with Kastmasters. A Kastmater is a great wobbling spoon. You might want to look at a Krocodile spoon too. This one is a thick spoon with a slender profile and has a wider side to side sway on the retrieve.

As miuch as I like my Storm swimbaits, I always find them to have a low strike ratio. I do much better with a Bomber Long A jerkbait.

Cut baits or lures?  Have you tried the good old bucktail?

Baits or lures?  A good old bucktail is a great starter.  Use it with cut bait for jigging and a curlytail for cast and retrieve.

I like the 1oz or 1.5oz Krocodile spoon for fishing from a pier.
Just a jerk on one end of a line waiting for a jerk on the other end.
