What brand do you use most? Have you noticed a differance between the brand you perfer over others? What?
I use Pautzke red or green jars. I have fished these with better success than Mikes or Atlas eggs. |

I dont use a brand name. Theres a couple local baitshops that sell egg sacks and single eggs, that come right from the fish. Also have been learning how to cure eggs myself. I think they will work better than any brand name out there. |

But for most of us, "balls of fire" are the way to go, and they have worked for me in a bunch of places. |

Jeremy, I don't often drift eggs, but occasionaly I'll catch a Salmon or Steelhead that the eggs are loose, rather than in the skein. When intact, we'll cure them for Salmon and Steelead fishing, if loose I will usually give them to a friend for eating (yuck). I do however drift 6mm beads in different colors and have had pretty good success for Rainbows, Browns, and Cut Throat as well as Kokonee. If I manage to catch one with loose eggs this winter, maybe I'll cure some up for you to try.

I've cured egg skeins for the same as JustDave. Never have done loose eggs before. I "liked" Paultzke on facebook, and have seen thier produces that they used to cure single(loose) eggs. I am willing to give it a shot. Especially after last week. A few days after posting this. A friend and I went fishing, drifting eggs. I was using "Red Label-Balls of Fire". I normally just look at the jar and go. But when we opened them, I immediatly noticed a huge differeance between this patch verses the ones bought three months ago. The color was a lot lighter and the eggs were so soft that they broke as the (sharp) hook penatrated them. |
