You can't go wrong with a spinner. My personal favorite is a Holographic Panther Martin. They always produce results. I would suggest if one spinner isn't working, try switching colors and brands until you find what the trout want. I remember last year fishing for 2 hours with a Panther Martin and not landing any fish and then switching to a yellow Rooster Tail and then hooking up on like the 3rd cast just as the boat was about to pull up anchor. My dad stated, "Looks like you redeemed yourself."

I like to slowly troll a Seps sidekick dodger followed by a large red worm or mini crawler. I have had great results with this method.

I like to long line broken back rapalas, when i say long line i mean between 300-500 ft. behimd the boat. this gets all boat noise way past the fish before the lures gets to the fish

I am really starting to get into fly fishing so my first choice right now would be a fly. with that said I am a big fan of spinners for streams but it really depends on the waters as to what brand or color. I like the vibrax but in a brass or silver finish. the size depends on the water, I will go anywere from a size 1 to a #5. on one of my favorite local samll streams I like to use a smallish roostertail in rainbow for the browns. I also like to fish a rapala in rainbow on streams for browns. if it is a lake my go to lure is called a Curleys supersonic.

I like fishing the rapids at the bottom of a couple of waterfalls in S. Rhode Island. I use worms in that situation. if I'm fishing a pond, dam etc, I like rapalas, spinners and roostertails. just have to find the color that works best.

Fishing for trout I like to use white spinners or rooster tails. For smaller sized trout I use flies or wax worms usually. Some times like when there are carp around I'll use corn or dough balls.

on saturday we were catching rainbow trout using a crawfish crankbait with a square bill. using orange, green, and brown colors worked well. the river was pretty murky and that was the only thing that seemed to work. i was surprised how well they worked.

Now durn it, mbroken, ya went and opened up that can of worms!!! Whats best, depends on location, as well as time of year!
In my country, when I was fly fishin', I only used one pattern. Embrio emergin, egg pattern. The size of the hook depended uppon the size of the fish I was after---Trout, steelhead or salmon. When I use my light spin rig, I use a 1 1/2" tube, pink, with a pearl skirt, 1/16 oz. wieghted tube hook, and once again, the size of the hook depends on what I'm after. #6 or 8 for trout, # ! for steelys or salmon.

What size trout? My favorite methods for local wild trout (in the 12"-16" class) is tossing a size 18 Goddard caddis with a 7.5' 2 wt fly rod. As for the larger stocker rainbows in the 20" - 26" class), I love to drift a size 22 or 24 zebra midge or tiger midge with my 9' 5wt fly rod. Lots of fun and presents great challenges.

I personally have found that panther martin spinners work well here in maine and in canada.  Another interesting thing I found is that the trout in canada, atleast where I go, don't see very many artificial lures or streamers. I had excellent luck with streamers trolling slow and deep.  They never saw them so they were enticed by them. I guess.

    TRIZER:

I fish the opposite, cast up stream and reel downstream as fast as the current. Since the trout always face into
the current its easy for them to see your offering and follow with the current. I catch about 10 to 1 more fish this way. Give it a try. Plus your comming up behind the fish, not allowing them to see you.

My favorite method is as much place as style, I just love small to medium streas with ultra-litie spinning or fly rod. There is just so much relaxation in the sound of flowing water and the breeeze in the trees.
Mostly I use lures but sometimes I use bait and the UL spinning excells at that.
Bad part is that with the knees and one hip going, it is a lot harder to do the wading.

Rob, did you get any use out of the Yakima stuff?

It really depends on the conditions and type of water I'm fishing love throwing flies dry and nymphs in rivers and creeks, trolling with spinners (Love the super duper here in Oregon) on lakes o small ponds, But my go to technique is a drop shot with live bait. There are countless ways to fish it and it is just deadly for any species.

I have been a fly fisherman for years but when i did a lot of spin fishing when i was younger first spinner i would tie on was a black or brown rooster tail the produced some really nice trout. My second option was a yellow tiger striped or a yellow 5 of diamonds daredevil, had good results on those as well.
