I am going to try something new to me for walleye soon. It is not new, but I don't know anyone who has tried it. I am going to shore fish with a planer board. I have a river not too far from home that has a fair walleye population.

Has anyone tried this? I have a choice of boards, I have a pair of Yellowbirds in the standard size and also have a pair of the Church Magnum Minis which are about 1/2 the size of a 'Bird. I am probably going out with both and seeing which works better(and this may depend on flow) unless someone has some advice.

It sounds like a good ideal. I've thought about it too. I was wanting to try them on the Ohio,  by  Markland Dam for eyes & wipers, but wasn't sure if it would work .I also thought about using them in a anchored boat in  the same area ,where you can get your lures out close to rocks without taking a chance on getting your boat banged up.

Tom..If you look toward the bottom of the "Walleye101" thread, you'll find a post of mine on this technique. It does work! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Thanks for the input. Due to sales and other considerations, I think I inadvertently bought just the right tackle for this. Couldn't see trooping down to the river with my 8.5" trolling rod and Tidewater 30 linecounter. It's going to be a while before I can get out again, we got 5" of heavy snow last night, and that is sure to raise the already  high  river. It was just about fishable when the snow came. Glad it didn't come as rain, the river won't rise as fast with snow.
