I have had my best luck with live bait. Leeches #1. Fish your bait near the bottom most of the time unless you are on the Great Lakes

There are many ways to catch Walleye most of witch tepend on where they are at.
When eyes are holding on large flats I like to troll a crankbait like a Shad-Rap.
This is a long line presintation.
When the fish are tight to structure I like to cast jigs and a bit of crawler to them.
When they have there heads tucked in the weeds I will use a slip float and live bait such as a night crawler or Crawdad, Leech's where outlawed here a few years ago and we have never been able to use minnows.
Minnow baits work well fished over the tops of the weeds.
Casting spinners in current areas of rivers and streams work.
The bottom bouncer works but is not a favorite for me.

For me it al depends on water temp and time of year. Jigs are a anytime bait for me. I've been using cranks (casting and trolling) to find the walleyes. Then using jigs to pick off what I can. I've been reading after the spawn a lot of fish stay shallow for a lot longer than most people think. That's what I've been trying this spring.
