Never caught a carp before. Where do I look for them. What do I use for tackle and what do I use for bait? I want to catch one! I heard they put up a good fight.

take the center of a fresh piece of white bread and squeeze it around a # 4 or 6 hook and fish it top water you may need a weighted bobber to help you cast out.

    good luck

I agree 100% to what bigbarry said, but I'd also like to add that corn niblets also work really well.

vweeks, common carp are found in almost all of the watersheds in the continental US. Many park ponds and urban rivers have them as well. You can often see them 'crashing', or jumping around. Also, walking softly, you can see some near sheltered bank sides at dawn or dusk. Locating them is very important! The best bait in the world won't catch a fish that isn't there. If it is allowed in your area, you might try chumming. A simple way of doing this is to take two cans of sweetcorn with you, open and throw the contents of one can into the area you want to fish, and then start getting ready. In 20 minutes you might see some activity; if so, cast your baited hook (size 8 or 6 with 2 or 3 kernals of corn on them; leave the point uncovered) and hold onto your rod. A 3 or 4 pound carp can pull it right into the water! And that's a small one!

alot of folks  use caned corn .
but if you really want to have a blast
dead drift a nymph or piece of corn on a 6 - 9 weight fly rod  and  hang on .  you  dont want to fish  in a crowd if you do this  because they  do run and you need  room to play them out .
