i lve in manitowoc wi i was wondering if any one knows when the carp start comming from lake michigan back in to the river (spawning i asume) and if any one can tell me what the differance is between the ones that have the bigger scales than the ones with the smaller scales

The smaller fully scaled ones are just called common carp, the ones with large scales are called mirror carp and they are not ussually completely scaled. There is also what are called leather carp that have no scales and are rarer than mirror carp. If you really want some information on carp and how to catch them visit the Carp Anglers Group Forum.
