Has anyone used one of these? It is a biodegradable sack weighted with rocks that is intended to be dropped into the water where you are fishing to draw fish like chum would. Tom

I've heard of using a paper bag filled with corn or pet food tossed into areas that you are going to fish later in the day or over several days. Variations have been used in carp fishing for years it is also used for cats and panfish. Check your local regulations in some areas this is illegal. Also seen sling shots used to throw bait balls over a wider area to attract fish.

This is a commercial product that is supposedly legal anywhere chumming is allowed.

Sounds pretty much like PVA, which comes in different sized solid bags and netting, as well as string and tape. I use it pretty often in my carping lately. Dissolves in less than a minute, so don't get it wet before you toss it.

These supposedly last for better than an hour. I'm not much of a carp guy but I just might give one of these a try this year.

Got curious, Googled, not much beyond a simple PVA bag full of groundbait. You can do it yourself with stuff from several different carp equipment sites. you want to attract panfish specifically, add in some spikes or chopped worms, that sort of thing. Saw mention of TopMix, a company catering to US carp and match anglers, among other folks. I would imagine they'd like to broaden their market to panfish anglers with Match angling attractants. European methods work for more than just carp.

I met the developer/manufacturer/distributor of the Bait Flare this morning. Turns out most of the product testing on this was done on my home pond! Bait Flare now has a formula for gamefish like bass and pike available. I plan on trying some this summer. Tom
