Reguardless of the size, I was thinking I'd name mine "A Little Dingy". I believe it fits.

well IMHO i think the hole topic should be called a "small boat" section, not just a canoe & kayak section. what about all the other boats that don't have a section yet? if you want it true P.C. then why say canoe & kayak, when kayak means a canoe in Eskimo? the diffrents is lighter weight, a hole in the middle and is made of SKINS(from animals), i don't no many people with a real Eskimo canoe(kayak), do you? this is/was only a attemp at have`n fun with small boats and names. i like to see um all! and thought most paddlers would like some too, we want you to share as well don't feel disscuraged.....it's fun! do you have any names for you boat? like after a long trip i call mine "pain in the rear" ...LOL i welcome any float tubers, small john boats and any others small boats to the section, so they have a place where they can feel wanted too.... it beats staying in the big boat section where we git run over... lol heres some "kayaks" for you |

you welcome them huh?? personally i think everyone trying to be so PC is what is going wrong with this country, but that is another subject for another day.......i have a canoe so i can fish w/ my kids and plan on buying a kayak to use my self........that is why i wanted a canoe and kayak forum....... how is fishing from a small boat with a motor that much different from fishing on a $40K bass or walleye rig.........you can't go as fast?? boo hoo .....i think this forum should be limited to manually propelled watercraft........float tubes and personal pontoon boats, sure........row boats, why not.......the day you put a motor on it......you should change forums.......the same goes for me.....if i ever decide to put a motor bracket and motor on my caone i'll say goodbye to this forum........

i guess if someone did not make a topic for funny pic and stupid stuff for this section then we would only git multipul topics posted soon enuff, like the miss section atleast a joke every day, it makes for alot of posted topics real fast, witch makes it uneasy to see what is realy goin on, so atleast here if we keep all the b.s. funny crap about small boats in one spot it might help, but what do i know.... i guess i'll just make new random topics every time i see a new wierd boat & when they make the next topic for small boats with motors i'l go there, but till then, here i am...LOL i use a trolling motor all the time, i can travel up stream and fish , and fight(water & wind) current to retrieve lures that are stuck, none of mine of course, lol! heres a Kayak for ya it's got a motor attached sold that way, i would bring a paddle incase thO` |

I got to agree with you Chris. I am a canoe owner and user too. This should not be confused to be a "small boat". Paddling a canoe is in a catagory all it's own and should be shared only with a rowboat or kayak...I love fishing with mine and do so with no regrets. I don't care to "Deep Water Fish"; so the canoe does everything I can ask for. I have made a slight modifacation to mine by installing a center platform with cutouts for my bait/fish (Perchin Pail). My pail is made from a square cat litter pail and sets flush with a battery operated areator for keeping live bait/keeper fish fresh. I plan to make another cutout for my portable fish finder. Also thinking aboput installing horizonal pole holders and some clamp on pole holders from Jann's Netcraft. ($2.49 each) My canoe is nice and wide; but I intend to install some type additional floatation along the sides to make more stable in rougher water. Any idea's for this would be greatly apprecieated...Dennis/Papa_d SGT Christopher Johnson US Army Presidential Salute Battery NAFC Life Member Dennis/Papa_d |

I own a Discovery 158 and a 14ft semi-v john with a 25hp Evinrude. I enjoy both of them equally. However after my last canoe experience on the Missouri River I will stick with the john boat there. My friends and I do use the canoes a lot also for small rivers and creeks. I really loved being out there on the water and drifting along or digging in with my double ended paddle and getting a wake going behind the canoe. Bass, The bait of Champions! |

well pappd, i am glad it is agreed opon that it should be a canoe kayak topic! to bad the admins don't help with it none.... i own a canoe and catch alot of fish, i love to paddle for fun but i have found i do have way more productive days fishing with a trolling motor, even if it does not fit in with everyones dream canoe`n ways, but i would recomend a motor to anyone who want to catch more fish, instead of paddle half the day and fish the other half(this is a fishin forum, i think!) my canoe was bought with the sole intention to use it on big and small water and make it the most versitile boat for the money spent, i did alot of homework to find just the right price of boat for my needs, turns out it was a canoe! yes a canoe ! the best of all worlds, small enuff for river backwaters, but big inuff for lake trafic too...my only concern at this time is it does not fit in with the topic makers wishes,of being paddled, becuz it seems like a motor is cheating or somethin to them... maybe pappd your fish finder will beep one to many times for some guys and they will let you know you don't belong becuz you are not one with nature? maybe when we pull are boats with bikes to go fishin we will all be better off! but aslong as you use a truck/car to git to the water it is a motorized boat still! pappd you need outriggers! type in " canoe outriggers" in your search and a ton of places will come up.... I still own a canoe and of course my seat is open to most anyone, who wants to fish, or if you want to paddle i'll leave the motor at home and you can paddle me around so i can fish... i aint hard to please.... |

i think someones brain beeps one to many times........anyway, thanks for the back up papa_d.....as for your canoe stabalizer......i haven't done it myself (still haven't made a decision) but i have seen a few canoes around with kids pool noodles on them.......they put the canoe in the water (put your normal fishing load so you sit at your regular level)........make marks at the water line w/ a sharpie or other indelable marker......got home let it dry and clean the strip that is above the marks.....cut the noodle in half lenghtwise and stick it to the canoe with whatever waterproof, extra strength glue/adhesive you like.......like i said, i haven't tried it and i'm sure it won't be as stable as the riggers but the guys i have talked to said it helps

I had a 14' boat that I named "No Such Luck". Seemed like everytime my brother in law and I went fishing before we bought the boat we won't catch anything except bait fish or a suntan. When we got home my wife would ask me what we caught and I would tell her nothing but we got a few bites and that I wish I had a boat so I could get out where the fish were. She would say "well someday you might get one" and I would response with No Such Luck. |

I have a 16ft glasstron that I call "the lazy way" and 14 old town sport with out rigers (wave armour) from cabella's, rod holders, clamp on lights, and a built in bait box and dry box. I haven't yet named it, but am leaning toward the green monster due to how big of a pain in the xxxx it is to load on my own on top of the car. I love it anyway. I prefer to go with someone, but no one else here wants to get off their lead a**es to go with me. life member since 07-09 |
