I would like to buy a smaller kayak for fishing, and I just wanted some input to some prices. I dont have a bunch to spend, and I just wanted to know if there are some decent quality, low cost kayaks out there. Thanks.

emotion makes a great yak at a good price . i found one for my wife that had the same hull design as mine . come to find out the same man designed both yaks , but the emotion was a couple hundred less . i have found some good used ones surfing craigslist . my advice , try it before you buy it . the first three i bought off the shelf because they looked good . that was my bad . didn't take long for me to sell them for a fraction of what i paid . i now have four , all different models , and each one taken on a test ride first . one other piece of advice . take the gear you plan to fish with when test ride one , that will help you get the true ride when loaded . hope this helps a little .

fishing is life , everything else is just details . and i prefer my tails with specks or spots .15 miles NE of austin

I have an Old Town, Otter. Its short and wide about 9' long easy to transport I think I paid around $250, not sure what they are now. I use mine for smallmouth in good size creeks. This one works well for me and what I use it for.

    Hey Fred ,

I've been looking for a new one and I've seen a few for around $300.00. But most are around $500 and up. Dicks has a Pelican Fishing Kayak for about $500.00 I'm hoping the price will drop soon. Should have gotten it during the summer. It was on sale for around $300.00

Try Ocean Kayak.  They make a few good ones.  I had one, angler, about 11 feet long had to sale due moving.  It was a sit on top model.  Are you looking for sit on  top or sit in.  Also try Old Town.

I talked to a salesman at dicks last night.  He said they will be having a sale on boats (both canoes and kayaks) within the next couple of weeks.  He told me to wait a week or two if I can to see what happens to the price.  Nice guy!  May have saved me a few bucks!

hey man, check out dicks sporting goods if you have one near you, i bought a perception swifty 9.5 and got it for $230, now they have ones about 199 but the are junk, really flimsy cheaply made and are 2 piece hulls, stsy away from those, personally i think they are kinda gay. i love my kayak it works great, mount a rod holder to the front and have at it.

I just purchased a 12 ft Field and Stream from Dicks for 399.00 The boat was 699.00 marked down. In doing some research I am to understand that they are made by Oldtown. This boat has a 500 lb rating and tracks really well it is a lot of boat for the money.
