Ask the person that you like to test drive it first before you buy it or not! Since it is used make sure it don't have deep grooves or cuts, also the foot pads and then after the test. Check to see if you have lot of water in the kayak more then normal. If everything feels okay with you go ahead and buy it. You have to start somewhere, not sure the price is great but you may ask for little off the price.

There are less expensive kayaks that do real well for lake fishing and non-swift rivers. It all depends on what kind of water you want to play in. I bought mine new for under $300 and it is very stable and works great.

The T-160 is a great kayak. I have 2. One older with 2 hatches, and 1 2006 single hatch with tankwell in the back. The kayak is a little narrower than some others. Ocean Kayak Prowler or Tridents are a little more stable. The T-160 is fast and you can get to where you are going with less effort than other rides. The price depending on how it is set up, rod holders etc, is not too bad. Maybe a touch high. If you are a larger person, you may want to consider a little wider yak. I'm 6'2", 180, and have no problem crawling all over mine. Getting in hatches etc. It took some practice though. Does it come with paddle and PFD? You will need both. Shoot me your email and I can send some pics to you of my rigs. Here is a link to the one that I just bought. No PFD, anchor, or cart, for a lot less $$. http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/i...095.0.html

racinrob, that was a heck of a fishing machine pictured there. I'll bet the links are just as good. The one other website I still remember was www.plasticnavy.com, I used to have a long list of sites, there are clubs all over the country and even the world. I tried the Hobie and liked it but I am getting like bassnut and am so kinked up that getting in and out of a regular 'yak is a trial for me so if I get the chance I am going to get a wavewalker. good boat for a chubby person like me.

Come to think of it, I wonder if bassnut has had more health problems as I haven't seen him here in a long time.
