Does anyone have one of these? I have one, and I'm trying to find out how old it is. I think they still sell these new, but I'm pretty sure this one is a little older. Can you help?

bassbum: Yes they are still in production and available from Cabelas. BPS also sells a private label rod that I swear is the same. I don't know if there is a way to date the one you have. You might see if Eagle Claw has a website with an email address and ask them? Tom

bassbum: Have you ever fished that rod? I use mine all the time for panfish. It can get real exciting when the incidental bass or pike comes along! I have 2 of these, a 61/2 and a 71/2. At the moment they share a reel with 4# on it. Tom

I fish it all the time. It is one of my favorite combos. I have the 5' version with 4# on the reel. I hardly ever go to the water without it.

I was amazed that one person complained about the one he got didn't have enough "backbone". IMHO estimation ultralight rods don't have much of that....especially when you are trying to cast a bobber with bait on a hook...then I believe the "whippy" part helps.

 

Seems a little odd though...folks either REALLY liked them....or were NOT happy at all.

 

I have a couple...and 2 Trailmaster pack rods....and will be using them this summer on and off.

Dave: Can't believe that someone complained about an ULTRALIGHT being too whippy! Isn't that the purpose of a 6-8' ultralight? I have 2 and they are "whippy" but that is exactly why I bought them! I can cast into tommorrow with these rods and 4# test line. I love it. Tom

Fred---I just read your tacl\kle post on Eagle Claw rods> What is the model # marked on the base of the rod as they made several different feather lite models >We have several in the house and have used and still do for many years. I am looking at one right now(My Wife's) 5'6",FL 204 spinning rod with a Mitchell 308 reel on it. I have been using Wright McGill (Eagle Claw) rods for over 60 years. I have a trailmaster rod in aluminum tube that I bought in 1957. It has a lifetime warranty on it and believe me it has been repaired many times (Long Story). I go to theWright-McGill factory in Denver quite frequently (just to look of course) and I can't help it if something gets attached to me and i have to buy it!! LOL.
