I was wondering what are some good replacement hooks for my crankbaits and jerkbaits. Is it a good idea to change out the rings also.

I don't change out the rings unless they're bent out of shape. I typically use Owner hooks as replacements. I will use Mustad, VMC, or Gamakatsu hooks too.

Owner stinger trebles are my top choice too, just a little pricey though. I also like Mustad UltraPoint and Triple Grip hooks, VMC and Xcalibur Tx3 trebles and even plain old Eagle Claw short shank crankbait hooks work well for me. I only have a few, but Matzuo hooks seem to be good too. The Gamakatsu hooks I have used were alright but they corroded quickly.

I like the Mustad Triple Grip hooks as replacements. They are "sticky" sharp, but will tend to bend a little because they are finer wire gauge than other hooks. Just the other night I bought some hooks to replace the stupid red ones on shad raps that kept losing fish. That particular store didn't have Triple Grips in the size I needed, but did have Gamakatsu in a round bend and a wide bend. I bought both and plan on trying them out tomorrow. Like slipperybob, I don't change out snap rings unless they are sprung. One other tip - some cranks come with size 6 trebles. The first thing I do on these is replace those hooks with a size 4 and test them to make sure they don't lose their action. If their action is still the same, the larger hooks stay on the bait. IMO the larger hooks hold better.

Not sure where I saw it but one of the premium hook mfgs. sells a kit with the most common replacement hooks and a chart. Might be a place to start. There is a wide variety of quality in the hooks on lures and even some "high quality" lures can have some of the cheapest hooks. My local tackle shop had a sale on Cotton Cordell lures and I stocked up to find that the hooks on every one of them was dull.
