The problem I see is that it is illegal in many of Illinois waters. About half of the waters in the state are '2 pole, 2 hook areas so anything with that many hooks would be prohibited.

I'm not sure about the legality of it here in Ohio...but I would like to give that a try!  SmileyCentral.com

In Wisconsin you are allowed 3 hooks, baits or lures. Depending on the fishing method and the target species you dont need anything more than that. It doesnt allow for spider-rigging for crappie, but then its not a technique needed around here to catch them. I bank fish a lot for catfish, walleye, white bass and other species. So I can use up to three rods with 1 hook each or 1 rod with 2 hooks and 1rod with 1 hook. I have better luck with 3 single hook rigs.

    Hey guys:

Check out this story that we just posted to the NAFC web site.

    http://www.fishingclub.com/magazine...labama-rig

It's amazing that it took this long to bring what's essentially an umbrella rig to competitive bass fishing. Let's see what the associations and states do to change rules and regulations ... Only time will tell. Like a lot of you guys, yeah, we're SOL here in Minnesota. Fishing the A-Rig would be illegal.

The only reason for the '2 pole' rule that I can see is to control congestion on some highly pressured waters. Some of you members from more rural areas have no idea how crazy it can get on some of the urban waters around Chicago! I can't imagine what it might be like with everyone running 5 or more lines.

I'll agree with Jim, its amazing that the umbrella rig just made it to bass fishing...especially in the large southern impoundments. SmileyCentral.com
