I was fishing the Potomac River in Maryland between Mouth of Monocacy and Whites Ferry. While in one of the many shallow spots (3 to 5 ft.) I was looking for Smallmouth and I saw what appeared to be an 8" Pleco. It moved sideways and hugged the bottom. When it stopped I noticed that it spread it's fins out to it's side and clung to the bottom in a decent current. All the other fish around it didn't do that. They just hung in the current. I was just wondering has anybody in the Maryland area ever seen or caught one.

I'm thinking sculpin also. The water there would be far too cold for a plecostomus to survive very long.

Sculpin are impossible to catch. I don't know why anyone would want to catch one either because they are bony fish that don't get more than 5 inches long.

I also have another suggestion. Maybe it was a goby?
