I fished on and off when I was very young, like most kids do. Only got into it about 3 years ago, and since then I've been completely addicted. I've tried fly fishing, saltwater, freshwater(Started out in freshwater, still my favorite), and soon I'll be trying ice fishing. |

Bassassasin1...this is for your book if you want...I'm almost 49 years old and basically just really started fishing about 3yrs ago. Like most folks I fished as a kid with Grandpa and the like, mostly cane pole fishing for Bream. However due to life changes and such, only fished every now and then (twice a year ..maybe) up till the age of 14 or 15. After that there was no more until 2007 when the company I work for took me on a fishing trip to Canada. It was one of those "Fly-In" Wilderness Lodges. Literally no way there except be Sea Plane...very cool!!!! I was extremely nervous because I hadn't been around or thought about fishing for 30 plus years. I was basically starting over!!!! With a little research ( thank goodness for the internet and the lodge web site) I found out most of what I needed and how to use it. I borrowed a fishing rod and reel, went and purchased the few lures that the lodge web site said they used up there and the rest is kind of history. We caught Lake Trout,Walleye,Small-mouth Bass, and I lost a Northern Pike that I thought was going to pull the rod out of my hands (I was definitely not prepared for a hit like that). From that moment on I was H*O*O*K*E*D as they say. When I got back home I started fishing with friends that I never knew even fished...because we had never talked about it....and now own a bass boat, more rods and reels than the law should allow and we better not even start talking about lures and other tackle. Only if my Grandpa could see me now....oh he would still be using a cane pole and night crawlers but still loving it none the less. Some of my friends and I now have started an annual fishing trip to Lake George in Florida for the Shellcracker spawn and a little Bass fishing. I hope to make to your neck of the woods one of these days,I hear fishing is great there. Keep in touch on your book progress;;I would like to be one of the first in line for a copy!!! Greg |

My Grandmother taught me to fish from the bridge over Cypress Creek right next to their home in Pompano Beach Florida using a Mitchell 300 reel., that was 1964 and I was 13. Thanks Grandma! Fishing became a life long passion for me as did playing music, which I started doing that same year. I have been a pro/semi pro musician nearly all my adult life (electric and upright bass) which led to my web site posting name, bass or bass?. What's on the agenda this weekend, bass fishing or bass playing?

Greg, really enjoyed your story about Lake George--have fished there several times with my family but lately it is just me. Let me know when you plan to make your trip and maybe I can drive down and we can get together in one of those massive shellcracker beds and share a few "tails" about previous trips or create some new ones. Good luck and good fishing! Uncle Tom |

| I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country. |

Hay bassassassin1, I also own my own business (a dental laboratory), so between the business, band, home remodeling, family life (including grand kid's activities ,got 5 of 'em aged 17 [awesome pianist], 14 [he's a drummer], 11 [another great pianist, and she fishes and wants to hunt], 10, and 6) I have a hard time finding time to fish, lucky if I get out once every 6 weeks. Enjoy all your activities, they make for a fulfilling life.

I started fishing since I could tie my shoes. My mom really got me into it. She gave me one of my Grandpa's old poles. She took me on the river to fish carp, never caught one. My first fish was a white bass out of Lake Marie at age 6. By the time I was 13 I really got into it. I read books and watched a lot of In-Fisherman DVD's on Largemouth Bass. Now I am 18 and fishing is my greatest passion and I just had my best season ever. 491 fish. A lot of them were 3+ pound bass! I plan to fish until the day I die. |

That's awesome! Enjoy it while you have the time. Not that I don't still enjoy it, I sure do, but fishing time will get reduced by other things in life. And you'll love those things too. |

To tell you the truth, I first wanted to try fishing when I was 8, just becauss of all the colors in my uncle's tackle box. Landed my first 4 pound bass on a frog with him at camp. Im still at it, and the hook, line, and the sinker are still with me. |

I started around 3 when my grandpa took me out on his boat for the first time. My dad had been hooked for years, so when he found out that I liked it, he took me out to fish several times a month. Ever since then, I've been hooked for life because I love the peace and quiet mixing with excitement all of a sudden. |

I started fishing when i was four, i fished mainly with whatever i could find and when ever i could. as the years went on i gained new skills, and developed new technique. Then two summers ago my dad got me an old alumacraft 14ft. I worked all that winter makinging i my bassboat. I extended the front to make a platform. Added fishfinder, carpet, electronics, and all new seats.

My first trip I truly remember was when I was 8yrs old and my grandfather took me on a 1/2 day trip. The only fish I remember catching that day was a 8lb bonito. In the years that followed I learned to spearfish, worked on a boat for trips during the summer and spent most of my free time on or in the water. My best trip ever was when I got to go on a 8day trip to Mexico for tuna. I ended up with 3 big tuna going 88 to 92.3lbs. That was a gift from my grandfather that I will never forget. I'm 44 now, have taught my wife and 2 of my kids to fish and still go as often as I can. |

One of my earliest memories of my childhood was getting to go fishing with my Dad who is 84 and still fishes every day. Needless to say his son is 62 and still fishing. I was a pastor for 40 years until my physical disabilities became too great for me to keep a regular schedule. Fortunately, my wife of 42 years and I were able to buy a home on a small ten acre lake and I am able to fish on my good days. My Dad was by far the best role model a kid could have not only fishing but overall. Fortunately he and I are still able to fish. During those years as pastor and even more so now fishing has allowed me a lot of fun and good fellowship with those I am able to fish with. Now as I look back I am very much aware of how much I came to know the constant presence of my Heavenly Father while fishing. Through the years I understand more and more what He meant when He called each of us to be "fishers of men". I thank God for His daily presence in my life! Uncle Tom |

I started fishing about year ago, last summer. I was normally the type of person that thought fishing was really boring and you never caught anything. I was talking to my freind one day, and told him I had found a fishing reel outside with some line on it, and asked him if he wanted to go fishing in a small lake where we live. Then we got some long sticks that we picked up, we didnt hav any real fishing gear just a small box i found in my dads shed, so what we did was we got some soda cans to use as bobbers and we put some hooks on our line and some bread, then we waited and caught about 5 brim. Then we decided we should get some real fishing gear to catch more fish. Naturally i was more excited than him about it, and i started fishing in saltwater instead of our small lake. and now this summer its been two years of fishing, now I go fishing for speckledtrout in Jacksonville Florida, and im getting really good at it, although this summer hasnt been very good because of all the rain the water is almost black and i dont have a boat. but i fish at night and ive been having better luck, but still havent been able to land one |
