Hey guys i just got the idea for a tournament the club should host for all our young anglers. we can do an entry round in lakes around the country, then have a tournament for the winners of the entry round. And the Winner wins some type of prize. Give me your thoughts...Thanks

I'd be all for that! It seems like it would be a great way to bring all us young anglers together for some fishin and it would probably get some publicity for the club. Only problem is that something like this would need a sponsor or something. |

Thats a pretty good point. The club gets products from companys for us to test, maybe they ould sponsor us.

Great idea? Just a few questions, though. 1. What are the age limits? 10-16? 9-18? 2. Could we get lure companies to sponsor us? Rapala, Bomber, Plano, etc. 3. How would the weigh-ins/size verification work? |

You fellas missed the biggest problem: The club seems unwilling to accept the potential liability for something like this. From a corporate standpoint, that is only good judgement. Tom |

here's an idea i'll thow out for ya. how about an online tourney? basically an on your honor type thing going through the whole year and the winner gets a nice prize and a write up in the mag. eliminates the logistics and liability for the club. Brian |

Travis: I have some ideas for this. If you would like, get a hold of me off the forums and I will share them with you. Tom |

An online tournament would be a great idea, maybe you could submit a picture so they know your weight is approximately correct. |

We really need to get this started it would be a a lot of fun. I like the idea of having to post a picture of your catch but how would you determine the date of the catch. I mean whats stopping someone from posting a pic from two years ago. Maybe we could do something like having a weekly entry and just picking the best catch you had that week. And then we would have to seperate it by species. I dont know just throwing some ideas out but we really need to get this up and running asap. |

Hey fellas, I've got a few projects underway, so I might need a couple weeks to initiate this plan, but it seems like enough people are interested to give it a try. Feel free to send me suggestions about how we could/should operate such an online tourney. |

Posted By bassamatic on 02 Apr 2011 09:44 PM An online tournament would be a great idea, maybe you could submit a picture so they know your weight is approximately correct. why not post a control item sheet with with the club logo and date on it that can be printed off and required to place the fish on for a photo. This way it helps control those who may attempt to enter a fish caught before the start of the contest. Maybe have different categories such as bass, trout, etc with an ongoing point system to determine winners plus biggest fish award for each catagory. This is not a new idea just bringing to the top what i have seen. Brian |

How about leveling the playing field by ranking fish by the percentage of the state record where caught? A 7 lb largemouth is a big fish in the northern states and barely draws a glance in places like FL and Ca. Tom |

I like that idea a lot, Tom. It may just be because I'm in MA where bass fishing is considered just as much of a sport as chess, but that would be a very fair idea in my opinion. |

These are all great ideas but if it starts to get this complicated it will be pretty difficult to control. |
