The discount offered to members is very small. I switched from Nationwide to State Farm. Saved $623/year and got better coverage

I had State Farm boat insurance on my Skeeter when my trailor got damaged and I had a hell of a time with them and when they did make it right they dropped me after only one claim and switched me to Nationwide. I dropped them and went with Progressive and in my opinion is the best boat insurance company out there. I have made 2 claims with them one on the Skeeter and one on my Triton and the premiums didn't go up at all. So good luck with State Farm if you ever make a claim.

I've had State Farm Insurance since I was 16, now am 63.  I had to file a claim with them for someone knocking my boat off trailer as they ran red light but they did not have insurance.  It took forever to get it settled.  Finally, since I was guiding I asked them to sign statement the boat was safe--they settled the claim the next day.  My agent did everything he could to get them to settle earlier. Would be interested in knowing the comparison's of several companies and make sure it is apples for apples and oranges for oranges if you know what I mean!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

I have Erie Ins. for my boat, truck, car and house...so far there has been no problems! BTW, I keep getting a "timed out" error message when I post using the "Add Reply" button...

I have been told by many folks including 2 insurance agents that when insuring a boat itis best to get a policy from a company that speciallizes in marine insurance. An article in Great Lakes Angler a few years back said the same thing. Tom

You are right Tom and Progressive is one of those companies that do. In my case I have to have a minium of $300,000 because I fish tournaments, and after my problems with Farmers I'm glad I switched to them. Great insurance company.
