A true life member will not contribute to the BS "good" threads in this section. There is a place for that. This is not. This should be a members only place. Such as the back room of your local bar. Locals only, good times, and you get along with everyone. Stop the BS! Go to the misc. section if you want to wish everyone a good day, pee, lunch, walk, meeting, mail check, or whatever!

Do you want some cheese with that whine?

How lazy can you get? If you don't like the topic
    just pass it up.

You know with your attitude I can see why you can't
get a members meet organized. Who in their right
mind would want to spend a few days with a habitual
    complainer like you.

I guess I missed that one, or it didn't interest me and I just "passed it up", whatever it was.

What acctually constitutes a "true" life" member, I always thought that when you paid the fee, you were a life member. Now, my interests and capabilities may be much different than yours but I am a life member. I admit that I have become more interested in the song and word games, in fact rodrigo and I have done a lot of the posts recently. I say good morning on occasion also. I have posted on some of the other threads here and there, read a lot more than I post though. So what is "true", you may well be a much better fisherman than I, heck, lots of people are, doesn't mean they enjoy it more or are more "true".

    AZAllen;

You have a great question there! What is a "TRUE" life member? Is it the person who only talks about fishing, and doesn't have the width to talk of anything else? Is it the person who says good morning every day? Is it the person who only wants to get more freebies since that is what the drawing card is? Is it a combination of all of these, and possibly many more attributes of each life member?

To me, I became a life member when I paid my dues. I became a "TRUE" life member when I joined the family here at the NAFC forums, and started to contribute my experiences, asked questions, and of course, had a bit of fun and camaraderie by greeting each other in the morning and in the chat room.

As in any family, not every one will be happy all the time. Life sees to that. As any of us who had siblings when growing up knows, we can disagree, and sometimes do so vehemently. That is just part of being a family.

I don't really know what set Bassbum off, and don't really care. I subscribe to a lot of the threads here, and I do know that a lot of the talk here in this forum is the greetings we give each other in the mornings, in the life members only area, good morning life members. If it weren't for our greeting each other, this forum would be fairly dead.

Lowater, the only forum police here at NAFC are Greg, Joel, and a couple of others who work for the club. So go ahead and post. If the powers that be don't like a post, they will discreetly let you know, or just remove it and send a general statement that it was inappropriate. End of story.

As has been mentioned in another post, if a person doesn't like a subject, hit the delete button. Mine is so worn out, I can't read 'delete' on it any more! LOL!

By the way, it is 79 degrees here in paradise this morning, with heavy over cast skies. However, they say it isn't gonna rain here for a long time. Lowater, send some of that liquid sky down this way!

In my mind a "true" member would not criticize another member for extending his opinion just because he disagrees with it. What a boring place the world would be without different viewpoints. Don't be afraid to challenge an opinion, but at the least be civil about it!

pegsguy, saltydan, I think you have hit it on the head. I know there have been a couple of members who seemed to "foam at the mouth" because others disagreed with them, fishfearme was one of them. I still read his posts on azbasszone, he is still touchy. Then there are those who cannot seem to stand each other like davesett2000 and northeastbass. Don't hear much from either of them now, I believe that Dave has had a tougher time as one of our economy victims, don't know about NEB. Even with some rumble here and there, it is still a good bunch of peoplall in all. Allen

Just dropping in to say HI!

With the state of the economy AND politics these days...I would venture to say that there probably VERY few Forums these days that don't have SOME kind of disagreement.

As an example...check out some of the negative posts on disaster news articles on Yahoo sometime...folks making rude / negative comments to those just offering condolences to those affected.

Just plain too MUCH hate going on in this country of ours

I don't get on here as much for several reasons...but definitely not because of any disagreements. Just went over the 36-month mark of being unemployed...but I've been fortunate enough over the last 9 months to have been selling excess fishinig stuff...including a massive amount of collectibles. Still have around 500 pieces left to sell.

And a bunch of other stuff I can sell too...including my 4x8 cargo trailer.

My foot STILL hasn't healed 100% from my accident back in Aug '09...although it doesn't hurt as much as last summer. Just spent 4 days catching up on yard work that I couldn't finish last fall...and couldn't do earlier this spring with all the storms that have been continually passing through the Midwest.

As far as NEB / Steve goes...I hope you folks will understand that I do NOT hate him. I just plain didn't care for EVERY one of his posts basically being an advertisement.

For those of you with Hotmail accounts...I'm pretty sure you know what I mean.

Last but not least...I'm going to go "out on a limb" here a little bit...and say to folks that disagree about things...let's remember the old saying..."you've got to give a little to GET a little".

I hope ALL of you are well...and pray the Good Lord sees fit to provide your future needs.

I joined the club and paid my dues. I got a couple things to test. then the club started sending me Life Member invitations. the travel rod looked really nice to me, so I went lifer, and insead of paying my dues one month at a time, I paid in one lump sum, cuz I could afford it at the time and I really wanted that new rod and reel combo. Started meeting people like Bill (Doc then Skycop), RodTender, DaveSett200, Papa D, and the gang. It took me 3 years but I made it up to the annual Gwinn Meet and got to meet these characters in person and some others. How cool when someone shows you something new or makes a minor adjustment on your reel and it starts working the way it's supposed to. hope you're starting to get my drift. then I wrote a story about the Gwinn Meet and it was in the Chamber of Commerce paper up there. Don't know how good or funny everyone thought it was, but it came from the heart. I'M A LIFER, BY GOD!

    Good evening Lifers,
I haven't been on this forum lately not because of BUM but because I have been working 12 hour days, riding around on a JD tractor.
It hasn't rained here sence last week, Sorry saltydan I don't have any rain to send you now. If I could have I would have sent you 3 inches. That's how much we had over normal in the last 6 weeks. Really raises hell with ground work and getting those Yukons and Reds in the ground. Still avoiding wet spots in the fields. Don't want my pic on the wall of shame at the local JD dealership. My boss made it though. And it was me that took the pic. And pulled him out. I am afraid of the pay back.
The fellows around here are fishing the lakes real hard and my neighbor told me last night when I got home that he was changeing lakes because he was tired of catching rainbows and was going to try for some Cuts.  Don't know how he did.
Got to take a shower and hit the sack. Gitting up at 4:30 AM.
Have a good night and a good tomorrow everyone.  lowwater.

You know, Bassbum may have a point but is just not stating it right. Has anyone noticed (I don't know how you can't help to) how many threads start with ... good morning whatever...good night whatever..... up and down the the categories. Can't we find something more interesting to say than that every day? We are really getting in a rut and don't realize it. Think about it.

Actually Badger, there only two "Good Morning" threads, one in Misc. and the other in Life Members.
Dave, hope you get to feeling better and your ( and everyone elses) economy gets better.

I agree slipperybob...but a LOT of folks are still having problems with s..l...o..w loading pages on here (myself included).

And I'm SURE that is what the MAIN problem is with folks posting on here.

As far as a "Forum" goes...this is BY FAR the slowest one I know of...PERIOD!

It's SURE part of the reason I no longer spend much time here...but also since links in posts are no longer "hot" in MANY topics I've posted over the years...I can't see k*ssing ANYONES b*tts as far as software glitches / manipulations goes. FAR TOO many companies & software writers are hogging the internet lines trying to collect info so they can pass it on to marketers...who then fill your email boxes and webpages with advertisements.

I PERSONALLY am tired of the crap

@ AZAllen...thanks for the VERY kind words...and I hope you and yours are well!

I'm STILL a Lifer...and ALWAYS will be. BUT....the software BS is keeping me away from here.

    JUST like SO many others

Well, in the Good Morning thread here we have 24,744 views but only 1,864 reply's.  Something wrong w/this picture. With all the posters on here we should have a lot to kick around. But if "good morning" and "good nite" are all we have in common, so be it.

Bassbum seems like a good guy to me. He just needs to chill out! This is a fishing website after all! Just relax Bassbum and before you log in next time drink a cold beer. That really takes the edge off for me...

Well, maybe part of it is because some of the time it may take a bunch of clicks to get out. Not limited to any one thread of course, but haveing the site toggle back and forth while you are trying to back may count as extra visits. When the attempt to back out of one site puts you into one you were in two or three views ago, maybe that counts as "visits". Who knows, not I.

    Good evening all,
This may supprise some but I became a Life Member because I didn't want to be bothered with paying my dues every year. It wasn't for the freebees or any other perks. I started fishing 60 years ago and really don't need much of anything, I spend less than 50 dollars a year on fishing tackle.
I don't consider myself a great fisherman, any better or worse than anybody else, Life member or not. In fact I became a life member when I joined the club in Feburary 2007. and didn't complete my profile or post on the forums or request friends untill this last January. I just thought one day, (I had some free time) that I would try it and see what would happen. Sence than I have met 6 or 8 really neat guys.
My guess would be that most Life Members are not active at all as I was before last January. That is their decission and doesn't make them any less of a life member than I. I may return to not being active on forums etc. at any time, just as before, but will still be a life member, but no less a life member than before.
I would guess that nearly all Life Members feel as I do. I wouldl hope so. How anyone else uses the Life Membership or why they became one is his or her business not mine.
I will be finished working in a couple of weeks and be back out on the water in my boat fishing. And my guess is that I will not be spending much time on the computer and I will become an inactive Life Member again. That's just the way I am, OLD AND INDEPENDANT. Good fishing to all. You all have a good day tomorrow and every day thereafter. lowwater
