This would be more suited for member tips, but I haven't tried it yet. After reading the latest article about lipless cranks, an idea came to me. This goes for any crank baits, not just lipless. Has anyone tried to remove the front treble hook and replace it with a weedless rig(like the hard ones that come on some jigs)? The weather here is in no shape to get out and test this, but this could change fishing cranks in cover in a whole new way. Your thoughts?

Why would anyone post things in the right/forum it may belong in that would make it to easy to find answers to this type question anyway ( JK)................
WalleyeKing#1 removes all his trebles and replaces his tail treble with a single open gap up............ I fished with him on one of the finger lakes and his hook up/to landing ratio was as good as using trebles. That said I think your idea should work fine you may have to try some differnt weight hooks if the actions get messes up..........lets us know how you make out...........good to hear someone who like to think outside the box............I have some real messes on some of my ideas outside the box and some winners also.......

Bass bum I think that sounds like a good idea. Like rabbit said though you will have to mess around with the weights in order to keep the action. But I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. If you do end up doing it post a picture. That’s why I like a lot of older lure designs there out there and different. This winter I started working on making some of my own lures and working on trying to recreate some cool and weird old lures. It’s fun and you never know you might start something new.

Thanks for the response guys. I've got about a month or so(hopefully less), before I can really test this idea. I hope to have a model within the next week. That way I can test, and fine tune, before live action. I will keep you two posted. I'll also work on some pics when I've got it put together.

I have some material comming from Janns. The biggest isue I'm having right now, is how to fix the weedless rig without glue. Any suggestions? I might have to add it to a mold and mold it in. Trying to avoid that though.
