Besides the commercial companies that sell lake maps, several state's DNR websites have downloadable / printable lake maps for free Cool<!--graemlin::cool:-->

But you can also find maps on the net by searching... Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

I've found 4 ways that will give you a pretty good overall search of what's on the 'Net...
You can use these "strings" in any Online Search Engine"...

For maps all over the USA, search these 4 ways...

    "contour map" + lake
    "hydrographic map" + lake
    "bathymetric map" + lake
    "depth map" + lake

For ones specific in a particular state, search with...

"contour map" + lake + (name of your state)
"hydrographic map" + lake + (name of your state)
"bathymetric map" + lake + (name of your state)
"depth map" + lake + (name of your state)

And if you want a SPECIFIC lake, use these...

"contour map" + (name of your state) + (lake name)
"hydrographic map" + (name of your state) + (lake name)
"bathymetric map" + (name of your state) + (lake name)
"depth map" + (name of your state) + (lake name)

So if I wanted one for Lake ET in Minnesota, my search strings would be...

"contour map" + Minnesota + "ET Lake"
"hydrographic map" + Minnesota + "ET Lake"
"bathymetric map" + Minnesota + "ET Lake"
"depth map" + Minnesota + "ET Lake"

You can ALSO substitute the word "reservoir" for lake Wink<!--graemlin:;)-->

Make SURE you spell the name correctly or you may get something REALLY odd Eeker<!--graemlin::eek:-->

You may get something for all 4 lake ones...you may get none... Frowner<!--graemlin::(-->
But I have YET to find a more thorough way to do it Big Grin<!--graemlin::D-->

I thought there may have been a couple....since I first posted that stuff around 4 years ago...but I didn't think it would be THAT bad

    I THINK I have them all fixed....plus I've re-arranged the stuff...and added a few new things too

Most topo maps only show features above water level.

HOWEVER...you can occassionally run across a topo map that has lake depths on it.

What USED to be the Microsoft TerraServer website has changed to this...

    http://msrmaps.com

Same basic features as before though.

Here's a link to a map of Canyon Lake in Texas...

    http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=15&Z=14&X=89&Y=516&W=3&qs=%7cNew+Braunfels%7cTexas%7c

But now watch what happens when you start to Zoom in on the lake...

    http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=14&Z=14&X=178&Y=1033&W=3&qs=%7cNew+Braunfels%7cTexas%7c

    http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=12&Z=14&X=712&Y=4134&W=3&qs=%7cNew+Braunfels%7cTexas%7c

    Another example...Lake Helen in Wisconsin...

    http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=13&Z=16&X=201&Y=3089&W=3&qs=%7cAlban%7cWisconsin

    Zoomed in to show depths...
