I know I am behind in the times with whats what in fishing , some say I'm a lil backwards and wondering around in the dark, well that maybe so BUT when i find somthing that i think may be usefull or helpfull to the good folks I share my knowladge and what i find. I'm Not sure if yall may have heard of it , some may have some haven't But i found google earth a few years ago and for what its worth I downloaded it to find roads , passage ways and so forth for hunting. What I didn't realize at the time was that this neat lil tool would assist me in finding new and hot spots in the Areas i fish. No it doesn't give a depth chart of the lakes , Rivers and streams i fish , But allows me to see what , where and How to get to spots that some may or may not have found let alone fished. For those who wish to check it out here's the link to the down load. CLICK HERE I know since i down loaded it , I have found spots I didn't even know existed and have pulled some Nice trophy's from these areas. Course with gas at the highest prices it has ever been , its a nice way to fish locally and explore my home state. as you can see it shows some great detail and with the longitude and latitude it makes it simple to find these areas on a map or just use map quest and get driving directions. I hope those of you who have yet to give this a try do so , I know for me it has helped alot.

Google Earth along with a good fishing map (I use Fishing Hot Spots, there are others) is invaluable, especially if you have an electronic map for your GPS. Tom

I've used it to find small ponds on state land and private property.Works great when you can overlay the streets on to a satellite picture.

I have used it to find alpine lakes in my area. I check out the area surrounding areas I already fish to locate hidden small lakes and ponds that i may have walked to within 100 yards of without noticing.

I've been leary of downloading Google software for years....as they have been notorious for tracking every little click you make

At the same time though....I've used the "sattelite" view feature in both the Google and Yahoo maps to find / scout fishing areas. Here's an example of one I found back here in Wisconsin. I had found the river junction on a regular map....then looked at the online sattelite map and saw the old railroad bridge...and the trail to it

Good stuff.  I cannot download anything to my computer here at work and my internet at home is slow at best so I just use google maps and still get what I need without downloading anything. of course I realize I can get more by using google earth. I have not tried yahoo maps.
