So I've been using a Jigger Totter Ice Rod Holder and I had this wannabe thing with a tip down.  I decided to set the butt of the rod onto the crossbar of the Jigger Totter.  Now when a fish bites, it will trigger the rod from the upright position to swing into the neutral teeter totter balancing design intended by the designer.  If the fish had let go of the lure the rod will keep on teeter tottering around to give the jig some motion and that sometimes seals the deal on the second bite.  Now when I see the rod teeter totter with the fish on, it's just a simple picking up the rod and putting the hook set on the fish.

I bought it online. You can do a search for the Jigger Totter Ice Rod on the net. I just merely had the idea to use the rod holder out of it's design specs. If I'm not watching the rods carefully enough, I sometimes miss the bite while the rod is sitting neutral teeter totter mode. Now I will see a big swinging movement of the rod.

I saw some old timers using something similar to this quite a few years ago. It seemed to work for them but don't know how well it work on a real windy day.
