I posted a link there to my topic on here of "Links & Info For Fisher-People". http://www.fishingclub.tv/my-nafc/f.../aft/37696He said that there were links to lure-making companies that were't paying him...and stated that it was "free advertising". We at Outdoor-Fishing hold our site and ourselves to a higher standard than many other sites. We request new members to read, understand, and agree with our rules when they enroll. I used to be a member on several other sites that I have since ceased visiting due to their lower standards. I'm sorry you found Outdoor-Fishing not to your liking. I wish to you a long lifetime of Happy Fishing!

O-F is a smaller site...around 2000 members...and is largely supported by its sponsors. I can see how making a post with a gazillion links to tackle companies would be an injustice to those paying sponsors.

I'm on at least 10 different fishing forums...and not a single one has an idiotic rule like he laid out. He asked me to remove those links from that topic & everything would be fine. ALL you guys know that I can't edit that topic...it was started back around 2004.
Scroll down & take a look through my topic...dozens of posts with helpful fishing info. If I had posted a link to Page 2 of the topic...he never would have seen those links. The idea of a fishing forum is to share information....and links to tackle companies are a small part of fishing info. I could understand his attitude if I had posted all the links on his forum...but I didn't. He acted like I was manipulating his webpage & had put dozens of banners on there for tackle companies. I don't have time for narrow-minded thoughts that equate a link = an advertisement on a forum. It's NOT the same as a "banner ad" on a webpage. |

At this point I'm "banned" from the site AZ  And I'm NOT willing to compromise what I've stated above. The site owner & I argued in "chat" last night...and I finally told him to remove ALL of my posts there & my account. I do NOT...and never will...accept HIS logic for the "rule" he purported. It was my original intent to ignore this little tiff, but in the interest of accuracy, I feel a post is in order. The fact is that there was a post made in a section specifically restricted to anglers under 16 years of age listing 6 pages of links to various and sundry sites. This was NOT new information, but a copy of a post made here in 2004. Unlike these forums, O-F is a well moderated site with established rules and policies. A violation of these rules generates a warning PM, and disregard of the warning results in a ban on future participation. This has the result of keeping offensive posts to an absolute minimum. I hope this brings some clarity to this "discussion" |

I had 20,000+ prior to that...and though MANY were just "junk posts"....there were hundreds of posts in there that were legitimate "fishing" posts / replies. Faceless? I've posted HUNDREDS of pics on here of the La Crosse Meet...and of trips to see other Members over the years. I've also started MANY topics on here...with BOTH personal knowledge...and screen-shots & pics & maps...and information "links included" from the 'Net. When was the last time ANY of you actually started / authored a topic on here...then backed it up with BOTH personal experiences AND info from the 'Net?
Not once. Too bad we can't take a "poll" on here...and see both WHO have "authored" topics on here...AND how much time SOME of we individual Members have spent on here over the years. And i would agree with Dave on the info part if you were not on the forums before 2007 then you have no clue as to the info that was there and lost into limbo land .
oachita angler ,and turnip had alot of useful posts that are gone for ever into limbo land too. why do you think this place is so dead now.
we lost alot of people that shared a lot of info on here . Then you ask your self s why the forums here are dead . And you have all posted on the site not working proper .
it only took how long to get this far and now there changing it again . |

Well...if all this lost info was as outdated as the books this club pimps...I would say I think I can get by without it. Nothing burns my ass more than taking the time to make an "info" style post, and the first response is a thread killing "hey mo...we already posted that in 1849...but now its gone...you should have been here." I've said it a thousand times, and I'll say it again: All the negativity from the old timers around here doesn't help. Hell...just look at this thread for an example. It started as an info post by b or b...and ended up a pissing match. In my eyes... THAT is why these forums are dead.  |

@ mo65... I'm sorry to hear that you have been told about "topics posted before...but now gone"...and the "attitude".  IF the topic info is gone...then "redressing" them is most pertinent. At the same time...we "oldtimers" used to hold actual discussions on here...which would last up to 2 weeks. We spent (as a group)... thousands of hours on here to TRY to provide info that would help folks catch fish. MUCH of it was lost back in November of 2007.  Here's ONE example. This topic ( River Fishing...which I had saved to a Word document)...was roughly 5 pages long before the 2007 change... http://www.fishingclub.com/my-nafc/forums/aft/37556#330920 Notice the 3 March 2008 by ouachitabassangler  we lost roughly 5 PAGES of that topic back in 2007 I archived a FEW consolodated topics in my Links & Info For Fisher-People---PRIOR to the software change in 2007... http://www.fishingclub.tv/my-nafc/forums/aft/37696 IF you doubt me....spend a couple of hours and look through my topic..and read  At the same time...I don't understand what you say about "outdated" info. IMHO...there are tactics...lures...etc...that were used 50+ years ago...and are STILL relevant now. I hope you can elaborate on your thought maybe rethink your thoughts on that moThese Forums aren't dead because of the pizzing matches...they are dead because SO many folks "who truly gave a crap" have left over the years because of software changes...topics no longer existing...and so MANY others that have problems getting logged in / waiting for pages to load etc... JMHO @ bass or bass? I apologize too..but I hope you folks understand where I was coming from. I've let it go too. At this point...I feel that being off-topic is a good thing. B or B, MO, In days long gone you could come in the old site and find 100 regular members, purdy much anytime of day, talking fishing and having fun. The regulars (OLD TIMERS) ALWAYS had open hands for the newbies. Everyone was welcome and if you chose to stick around a little and converse with these folks in short time they became second family. The boards were about daily life (misc) as much as they were about fishing. The folks her were friends and family............... It was destroyed overnight without warning. Left a bad taste in manys mouth. Most folks left, and with them went thier knowledge. It was SAD to watch this happen. The GREATEST fishing site on the net destroyed and a family torn apart. The anger you read in many of the old post around here are just by effects of this. Take care of the OLD TIMERS around here, they carry a great deal of knowledge. Only a handful left. Dave and trev are two of the best. Always reaching out a helpful hand.

Then we all ended up in a fight. You might not know me but Dave and Trev both do, and I mean no disrespect to either of them...I just don't agree with the decision to bring what started at another site here...we all know this joint has enough troubles as it is! Dave, Let me see if I can explain what I meant by "outdated". Probably not the best choice of wording...LOL...since I too use many of those 50 year old tactics. I guess what I meant was I'm just not as passionate about those ten year old posts being lost as you are. And if you really feel they are needed here...then by all means...repost them. If it was worth the initial effort, then it should be worth restoring. My argument is, I have noticed that the new members coming in don't share our excitement about these old techniques. And I sure as hell don't think they want to see us fight about them either...Hee hee! I've noticed I get way more response from the young members when I post about newer baits and techniques...like the latest cranks, new style topwater frogs, the latest new braids, new hooks, and the like. Actually, it kinda sucks, I'll post a pic of a 50 year old reel, and maybe get a response or two. But I guess that's just "the times 'a changing". Right now...I'm on the fence...don't know whether I want to invest the time to "rebuild" this house or just move on and let it crumble.  |

Mo, Going to get way off topic here. This thread has gone way south anyway so I doubt it matters much. I still read much on this site. I see your postings and most of the time enjoy reading them. It's not hard to for someone who loves fishing beyond the average weekend angler to see another that does the same. You are one of them. In my eyes... THAT is why these forums are dead" The forums are dead because of the actions of the nafc managment. I know....I know...LOL, you heard this a million times already. But by your comment you don't understand or believe it. It really was that bad, many members could not even get to the "new and improved" site for atleast a year. I was one of the stupid ones who could not believe the great nafc would ever throw it's members to the curb. I stayed and tried to make it work for those that were here. But it just kept going down hill. Enough of that. I will not post here much anymore. The anger at the managment comes out in the post to often. I'm sure without a doubt, I am not alone in them shoes. I don't know if all the negativity from some of us old farts will ever be gone. Not likely. But the condition of this site today is not because of them. I hope you understand that and don't take it in an negative manner. It's not ment that way. You know what they say about opinions, don't ya mo? Here's an old timers opinion about something. Not just for mo but everyone that reads it. If this site will ever be "rebuilt" It will be the people that do it! People are about more than fishing. The misc section was always the people place. This is were daily life went on. Birthdays, retirement, work, death, playing .............whatever. As long as the misc section has no heartbeat, so goes the site. You want to see this place rebuilt, it has to start there. The people are more important than anything else. Make the names on the board become folks you would call family, and mean it. Put a heartbeat back in the misc section and you will see a new family grow. My name is Mike, not bob. Like yours. My kids catch fish bigger than yours. LOL   Back to a ghost |

OK Mike(why not "ice cube Mike?")...I'll agree with a lot of what you say...But I still think you're missing my point on this thread. When I say that B or B started this thread with good intentions, and Dave trashed it, That was my example of a so called "old timer" being negative. It wasn't the club that did it...but a member. I'm talking in the now...not 2007...I don't care what the club did THEN...I want to see this place straighten out NOW. If you'll notice...since this started...I haven't called anyone names...I correspond with all the guys involved. I just don't agree with Dave posting his beef with another site here...especially on B or B's thread about that site. BTW...have you looked at the MISC. forum lately? That's where most of my posts are. I'm on there every day...with turnip, Wellsley, ERABBIT, rodrigo, I don't know what I could do to "put a heartbeat" back in it...short of sleeping there at night!

Just 2 cents worth here. I know in 2007 when I joined N.A.F.C. there was a LOT more activity here on the forums than there is now. I saw the declining activity and enthusiasm and made the post here about Outdoor-Fishing as we have a great core membership there and a sense of comraderie missing here. Just wanted to offer that to N.A.F.C. members as an added site to visit, not to replace or belittle this site. Heck, I still come here EVERY DAY to visit, although activity is very slow. I add to the discussions when I have something worth contributing, if I don't have knowledge about the discussion, I remain silent, but I come to visit every day none the less.
And I too am an old timer in age, and like many others, still use the older techniques and lures we grew up with. I find them every bit as successful as the new techniques, and offer the fish something different than they see thrown at them every day by the vast majority of younger angler using the current "latest" techniques.
I would love to see N.A.F.C restored to it's former glory and will help achieve this end in any way I can.

No worries ICB...got you covered too...and thanks for posting @ mo...I was trashing the owner of the site as his "thoughts" of "free advertising" are not mine. Obvouisly you and an couple of others disagree. But IMHO...let's "let it go" about that dang site Back to here & now... rebuilding topics HERE was discussed by many of us in the months after the 2007 change. NONE of us wanted to take the time involved...afraid of another update that would destroy it all again MANY folks that were involved in those older topics are no longer around. That's sad in itself. But at the same time...many of us didn't save ALL the discussions that happened prior to the 2007 change...so they can't be rebuilt. Which is truly sad...as the group of "old-timers" at that point had about 500+ years of collective fishing experience...and ALL of us spoke HONESTLY about ALL the topics we had discussions about.
