I caught something GREEN on St. Patrick's Day!  The bass at Cottontail Lake in the James A. Reed Wildlife Area were feeding strong yesterday.  Caught 6 and lost 4 (2 to bad hooksets and 2 to submerged trees).  Below is a pic of the biggest -- a big fat pre-spawn female.  She put up a good fight and posed politely before I threw her back.  Most were caught on lipless crankbaits out of the bright green grass growing beneath the surface.  If I'd had more time, I probably could have caught another 6, but it was getting late, and I needed to get back home.  Enjoy the pic, guys, and good luck!

    God bless,

    Scott

It was about 54 degrees. I didn't take a reading at Cottontail, but I did at a couple of the other lakes at James A. Reed and they were both around 54.

    Cheers,

    Nice Bass, man!

My father went down south to visit my grandad, last week.  My grandparents live on 100 acres and have quite a few ponds, which have everything from jumbo Largemouth Bass to hog Bluegill!  He called me up on the phone last night and told me that he had gone fishing on Saturday and had caught a 6.5 pound bass!   I'll have to post the pics when he gets back home.  By the way he was speaking on the phone, he sounded really excited to show me the pics.

Unfortunately, my dad didn't press the "save" button on his phone and the picture was erased.  So much for that.

Thanks, Nam! It cooled down in KC for a couple of weeks after that and the bass shut down for a while, but it's been warming back up lately. More pics to come...
