    Hi Jerry,

Tell us a little bit about what you specialize in. Is it walleye, smallmouths. How about musky? What port do you work out of?

Hello Wellsley - Thank You for the inquiry & Thank You Rabbit for the kind words.   I am starting into my 23rd season as a licensed charter captain & Ohio state licensed guide here on Lake Erie.  As Ed said, we fish mainly for Walleye, SM Bass, & Yellow Perch.  Although, I sometimes have those on board that like to catch Drum & Catfish also.   (lol)   I am based in Port Clinton, Ohio, but this coming season, I plan on running out of Huron, Ohio from Labor Day through Oct. or longer.  We will no doubt be trolling for Walleye along with trying for jumbo perch when we move to Huron in September.

    Thanks again,
    Capt. Jerry Taylor

Jerry, when is the best time for Walleyes up there? I'm thinking about taking another trip to Put In Bay sometimes this year, and I wouldn't mind getting out for a day of fishing while I'm there. Thanks.

Hello Fred - My favorite time to fish Walleye's in the western basin is Mid-May through Mid-July.  A lot depends on the water temps & Mayfly hatches. Thanks for asking.

Just got the information on the quota for 2010.  They are listed below

Walleye - 4 for the spring, 6 starting May 1 st

Perch starting May 1, will be 30

Reason stated on the walleye was that the Canadians estimated number of walleye was much higher than the conservative stance used in the U. S.  With estimated 12 million 2007 hatch along with those from 2003 etc. The estimate was raised to 25 - 30 million.  So their is no change with the walleye for 2010.

Hello Duckman - YEP! We do combo trips. The best time for a Walleye/Bass combo here is July .  Bass season in US & Canadian waters of Lake Erie doesn't start until the last Sat. in June. (6/25/2011)

    Thanks,
    Jerry
