NAFC Camp Conger North Coast Gathering 2008
Here is my report from Camp Conger 2008.
I arrived Friday night around 9:00 PM after the wedding rehearsal. Sat around the lodge and talked until bedtime. Then everyone went to bed and I had to go back to the house so I could get up early and go unlock the church at 8:30 AM for the bride-to-be, so she could get all of the bridesmaid dresses ready. After I was there going over the wedding ceremony plans for an hour or so, I had to go run some errands and head back to Camp Conger for the Big Breakfast. I got there just before chow time. After the blessing was asked, we feasted on Bacon, Eggs, Home fried potatoes, Biscuits & Gravy, and cereal for those who didn't want the big breakfast. After breakfast we sat around the lodge and talked for a little while longer and then I was off again, had to run to wal-mart in Norwalk to get me a new pair of shoes for the wedding since mine mysteriously came up missing. Then it was back to the house for world record breaking clothes changing time, including a quick shave. The wedding was supposed to start at 1:00 PM and we were out the door about 12:50. Anita called the church and told them we were running a little late, we got there at 1:05 and they weren't anywhere close to being ready yet....   . Finally, after about 20 minutes of them adding stuff to the wedding ceremony, which wasn't in the rehearsal, we kicked it off at about 1:25. After the wedding was over, Me & Mrs.BD headed to the local bait shop to pick up some worms, then we headed back home so I could change back into something more comfortable...   :D :D :D , grabbed the fishing gear and headed back to Camp Conger. Once back at Camp Conger, went inside the lodge with ShadeTree and had a cup of coffee, talked about the fishing so far that weekend. A variety of fish were caught, Walleye and Bass from the river, and Bluegill in the pond. Then we headed down to the river to try a different spot. Tried several different jigs and plastics, had a few hits but nothing big, did get a couple of snags and dad caught a tree on the other side of the river.....   , he walked upstream to a shallow spot and waded across to the other side. After several attempts to get his gear out of the tree, he decided enough was enough and that it would still be there next year when we come back, we'll have the stuff to get it back, say like, a chainsaw mabe.... :P :P :P :D :D :D . Anyway, after he got back across, we got headed back to the lodge about the sametime they were yelling "Come & Get It, It was supper time...OH BOY....FOOD !!!! Took the fishing gear back to the car, went into the lodge and got cleaned up for supper, where there was another buffet of food ready to be plated. Burgers & Dogs, Salad, Cooked Green Beans & Potatoes, Cake & Ice Cream for dessert.....yum-yum :D :D :D . After supper, we sat around the 'ole lodge for some more talk , then it was time to get everything packed up and cleaned up. We said our good bye's and headed out, already thinking of coming back next year. The final head count was only 14, but, those that were there really had a blast and said they will all be back next year. So be sure to add Camp Conger to your list of places to visit next year, I guarantee you'll come back again and again.... BD
