This post is something I never thought I'd have to make.  However, due to various contributing factors, I am extremely sadden to have to state that the 2009, 8th year Gwinn Members Meet must be canceled.

Members who have attended these meets for the past 7 years, have put a lot of time and effort in making this meet work., and for that I am extremely grateful. From a small group of 5 initally in 1991, to the meet in 2007 and last years meet, it had grown to a manageable size for it's location.  Many friends were made, and relationships established.  These friendships are what these meets are all about, and will be long lasting.

Should conditions improve in the future, and the Good Lord willing, we will met again, I pray.

Once again,, THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE PARTICIPATED OER THEYEARS- FOR IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE WITHOUT ALL OF YOU.

cya when I cya, Take Care, GTod Bless AND Be Careful Out there.

    Your UP Friend ALWAYS!

Gee Doc, this is kinda like losing your best friend...  But I can understand the many reasons why folks will be making different plans for this year.  Heck, a lot of folks will be lucky to just keep their jobs.   I know I had to cut out a lot of travel this year...I sure hope things are better next year!  Well buddy, I'll be a lookin' for your posts and I guess I'll have to stop in the chat room more often.  Take care, friend!  And may God Bless...

Doc, sorry to read this post as reading the Gwinn Meet posts over the years is one of the reasons for me to go to a meet. I sincerely hope things work out in the future, as Pete said it's like losing a family member.

Thanks for all the replies so far.  I appreciate it very much!

Pete, I also understand the many reason why this had to be done, and I am not holding any ill-feelings about this.( Not indicating that it was suggested that I was),  I just hope and pray that things improve for everyone in all aspects.  If it turns around for the better, and members want to start over from year #1, that will be their choice.

I sure never expected to see this my old friend.

Sorry to hear that the meet will not happen this year. It has been a staple of the forum for a long time now. You have done a fine job Bill and I hope this will be the only year that the Gwinn meet will have to cancel. I will miss seeing the photos of the meet and hearing the stories from those that attended.

You and Gene did a fine job of hosting the 2007 meet.  Allon and I will never forget it.  Heck, my boy still wears his meet T-shirt with with pride and it's the only one of his shirts that he hasn't trashed.

    Hi Guys!

Just a note to let all of you know that I have completed all of my treatments and I am back to work as of 9-22-09.  Have not been on the BB as of late as there is not a lot going on.  I do not know the status of my "illness" as of yet.  I have a Petscan on 10-14-09 and will find out on 10-21-09 what my actual status is.  Once again thanks for all of your support.

As far as getting the Gwinn Meet going once again., only the Good Lord and the members know if this will happen.

    Hello Folks!

It has been a while since I have posted anything here, but was waiting for my last visit to the doctor.  I saw him on the 21st and got the results of the pet scan! The scan was a lot "cleaner" than the initial one, and trhe doctor stated that I made a good "recovery" .  I am now on a "management program" to "control" what remains.  This will consist of 1 shot of Altima onve every 3 weeks.  It is 90% taken care of and this "Maintenance program" is designed to control the remainder.  I am feeling good and have not  had any bad side effects.  I am back at work full-time.  Once again THANKS TO ALL of you for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes.

    Hello All:

Once again it has been some time since I have posted here on the Club BB.  This post is just to confirm that to the best of my knowledge THERE WILL NOT BE A MEET THIS YEAR IN GWINN.  I'm sure you all figured that out by now, but I just thought I would make it "official".  Sorry and once again thanks for your help/support for the past years.

    Hi Mr. Bill;

I am doing just fine thank you.  Yes I am sorry also that there will not be a meet this year, but there really has not been much interest stated., and plus the fact that a lot of the guys have already made plans for this year ya can't really say much.  If you find out when/if you are heading up here, give me a bump and we'll see what can be arranged.  What move are you talking about?  You take care and keep in touch.

Hey Bill, Sorry to hear about the Gwinn Meet being shut down, My family and I really enjoyed it the year we could make it. I was up in your neck of the woods last Sunday fishing on Horseshoe Lake for some Bluegills, got a half a bucket full and froze our butts off. Hope this note finds ya well. Keep your lines tight Dean

Well Rod Tosser:  It has been a couple of years now., and I don't see anyone volunterring to "pick up he ball"., But considering the location of Gwinn and the lack of decent accomodations I can understand why no one is picking up the ball.

OK, so here goes....I'm about to step into the schit. We had great times in Gwinn, made great friends, miss the friends and the times. It's getting late this year for a fishing "Meet" . Are you up to helping plan a "Meet" for 2013? I live in Mikado, Michigan, that's just about ten miles north west of Oscoda. Next year's, 2013 Michigan's free fishing weekend would be a good time to consider a Michigan Meet.
In the Oscoda area we have fishing on or in; Lake Huron, AuSable river, Foote Dam pond, Cook Dam pond, Loud Dam pond, Van Ettan lake, Hubbard lake, Fletchers pond, and many, many smaller lakes.
I can provide; rustic camping area for tents/trailers or campers, boat trailer parking, even six single beds in three bedrooms in a fully furnished house (for a nominal charge). Even a farm pond for children fishing, stocked with goldfish (carp) perch, trout, and gill.
It's to late to call a meeting for this Sunday August 26th, I will post a Sunday date in September for a meeting at the house for all to see and make plans for the "2013 Meet". Come out, see the property, check out the area, help plan for a Michigan Meet. If I get help and interest..we can have a Michigan Meet once again. Warren

Thanks, guys. You thinking you might make it Davesett? I realize that it will take time for the word to spread but I believe there's interest. Nobody can guarantee the bite, but hey we got water, even "things to do" not on the water. There's Lumberman's Monument, Canoeist's Monument, Iargo Springs, then there's the Air Museum at the old Wurtsmith Air Force Base and a Motorcycle museum as well. Couple of bait stores in the area and even a few gun stores and shooting ranges. There's trail head for quads and the like. The shore to shore horse trail ends (or starts) just south of Oscoda. Tawas Light house, there's a light house in Harrisville and the Nautical museum in Alpena, about forty five minutes north. Alpena also has the Besser Muesum. Just to name a few attractions.
So....whose up for a Michigan Meet? Lemme know. Warren
