OK, I'm planning a MEET at my property in Mikado, Michigan for the free fishing weekend in June 2013, ya'll come! I got room to park your tent, camper, trailer, boat and trailer and a retreat house with three bedrooms (each with two single beds). There's plenty of local water holes and lake Huron or the Mighty AuSable river are only about ten miles away. Start making plans to help make the meet. Got any ideas? Skycop...love to see you here, as well as all the rest of the Gwinn Meet members.

I did 2 mini-meets a few years back, just a day of fishing, talking and hot dogs on the grill. Managed to scare up 8 to 10 people for each one, including members and family or friends. did one on opening weekend of catch and release bass season and the next on free fishing weekend. What's access like on Van Etten Lake? |

Thanks, I didn't think about the other sections. Van Etten has a state park with boat ramp and a township park with boat ramp. Either way I'm pretty sure you're gonna need somebodys sticker or you'll get a ticket. I can get the exact prices if you want, just lemme know. |

Good luck with this Warren...doubt that I will be able to make it...51+ months of being unemployed. I couldn't even make it to La Crosse this summer |

Sorry Dave, Not that you'll miss out on the "great" Mikado Meet but that the meet will be that much less for not having you bless us with you presence. You'll be missed. I get asked at least once a week, when I'll retire. I don't know how to plan for retirement when the money that was promised can be cut and the price of products I need to buy continues to increase. Guess I'll have to keep working until I win the Lottery! We'll continue to wish you well and luck finding a good paying job. Take care. Warren |

Glad to see someone is picking up a Michigan Meet, again., As long as it is not refered to as the Gwinn Meet which died 4 years ago. Remember to keep your receipts handy in case someone questions yoyr spending AFTER you leave for the night & you have yo hear about it AFTER every goes home!! Skycop

Hey Doc, happy to know yer still alive and kicking! There won't be not trouble with the funds cause this is one of those "bring your own" type arrangements. If you don't bring it, then I guess you already planned on going without. I got enough bills without trying to cover anybody else's. Can you fit a trip down here into your busy schedule? Love to see you? Lemme know. Warren |

Warren:
Sorry to say that I do not do that much travelling any more sdue to my health (Been undergoing cancer treatments since 2009.), so I guess the simple answer is no I will not be attending, but wish you luck with your attempt to start up a new Michigan Meet. |

I live in Lupton in the Summer and hope to be able to make it. Had a bunch of medical problems this summer that put a halt to most of the prime fishing days. Still was able to finish first in one fishing contest this summer. Pulled my boat out of the water this weekend while my kids were up to help take it out hopefully I get my skin grafts and they heal in time for ice fishing this winter. I already know deer seasons a bust. |

@ Warren..thank you for the kind words 'bro. It WOULD be a Blessing to be able to travel to this Meet next year for SURE. It's ALL in the Good Lord's hands my friend.
@ Doc...good to see you on here for a moment my friend. Sorry to hear that you are still going through treatments...prayers for you from Wisconsin.
@ jwandzel...sorry to hear about your health issues too. Prayers for you too for your recovery. IF you can make it to this Meet...I can almost guarantee that you would have a good time there. I've met Warren & pillman (Doc too) at the old Gwinn Meet...and they are heck of nice guys. If you love fishing & camping around folks who have a sense of "common respect" for others...you will enjoy your time there.
Having been to several La Crosse Meets...and one Gwinn Meet...I have YET to have had a bad experience.
And I'm sure that folks that have attended the Finger Lakes...Northeast...Raystown...BBPOTY Chippewa Flowage etc...Meets...would say that these "get-togethers" are one of the coolest things that have happened concerning the Forums here...in the sense that we get to meet folks who love fishing / camping & having a good time in general. |

I gotta agree, Dave, the meets are the best part of this club! Heck, look here we are, how many years after a Gwinn Meet and we're still talking about them and the great people that participated. Good times and good people, don't get much better. Hope we get lots of participants. Warren |

thanks for the kind words Dave It would be nice to get these guys together to chase some walleyes on the Saginaw river in January or feb. I usually got the scoop on the fishing since i kinda live on the ice all summer when my health lets me. Between me and my brother-in-law we probably fish every day there is fishable ice and know when the big ones are coming up the river if they do lol. Last year we were fishing out of the boat all winter and the biggest catch was a 35# catfish rioght in downtown saginasty lol |

You're MORE than welcome Warren @ jwandzel...you're welcome too. I've met Warren...pillman...Doc...and many others at a Gwinn Meet back in 2007. They are good folks and I'm SURE that if you decide to attend Warren's new get-together...I'd be AWFUL surprised if you didn't have a good time Rest assured...for ANY of you considering this new "Meet" / "get-together"...you will meet some darn good folks.
JMHO...and no offense meant to anyone |

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we had great times up in Gwinn with Doc and Gene. We made some good friends. Here for your reading pleasure; According to the Michigan Fisheries Department (517) 373-1280, the February date is always the weekend before President's Day, and the June date is the weekend following the first full week of June. That makes the Michigan 2013 Free Fishing Weekend, June 8th and 9th. Now, I can't put on gathering like Doc with all the extras (shirts, steak dinners, etc.). Maybe a couple years down the road we can pitch in and do those neat things. This first year will be more of a test to see just who is interested and willing to put effort into the meet. Believe me, I got enough projects without another one. I got places to park (tents, RV, vehicles, boats and trailers) and a house to use as a base. If there's a lot of participation and effort we might just have another the year after. Activities and failure or success depends on you guys. Warren
