On a recent trip fishing to one of my favorite fishing holes I broke my life member rod. While jigging for perch I snagged the bottom & trying to break free the rod snapped in two places. I've had and fished with this rod for almost ten years. Only one other rod have I owned and liked more. So I ordered another one. I have mostly ugly stiks and you can't beat them for the price and durablity. I doubt an ugly stik would have broke instead the hook would have straighten out. I still decided to replace the member rod with the same. I just like the feel. |

I never was really into Shimano's stuff until I got my life member outfit. I have been using it for soft plastics, and I love it! The reel is super smooth and the rod has a great feel. I have it spooled with 15lb. braid with a 10lb. floro leader. It's so sensitive, I can feel fish LOOKING at my bait! |

Wellsley,... Where did your member rod break ? << Locations.. I might be able to fix it for you. I can usually replace the mid area with a metal ferrule and if the lower half broke, I can sometimes fix those too with a piece of rod inside another. If the upper half broke, then it depends where. Sometimes one can insert a smal piece of rod inside the upper half. The closer to the half way section of the whole rod the better. If it broke near the tip. I can replace that with a new tip but your rod will be shorter. |

Steve, it broke in two places two inches from the tip then about half way down the upper section. I've ordered another rod and hopefully the upper part of the rod will work with the life member rod. |

Sounds like you did the best thing ordering a new rod. I could have fixed the tip area break, but that halfway down one is tough to fix [if possible] |

Mine is also a Daiwa 2- piece. I got the new rod last week and put the top piece on my member rod and it works great. |

I also recieved the Diawa Executive, 6 pc. pole. Have had mine since '92, and for my purposes, it is the ideal pole. I have broke the tip twice and a bail spring once. The last time I broke the tip and bail spring at the same time, was on a 24 lb Chinook, that shouldn't have been in that creek! I did land the fish by wrapping the line around my hand and runnin' up and down the creek until he tired! Being as to how, I do normally use the pole for Pink an Coho salmon, I do have 10 lb. power line. Both times that I broke the tip and when I broke the bail spring, Diawa did replace the parts! Still got my rod and reel and still use it. Knock on wood. But I have not broken it yet.

Last week I broke the lower half of the member rod. I got snagged and when I jerked the rod it snapped just below where the top portion attaches. So I got out the other half of the rod I bought. |
