I am looking for a cheap FIRST boat for fishing and general pleasure rides.  Most of the boats I have found have Johnson or Evinrudes.  I have been told there aren't parts available for these older motors, and I am wondering if I should stay away from them or not?

Any advice will help, Thanks, Jeff

Jeff: I don't think you will have a parts problem with these motors, between New Old Stock and what Bombardier is still producing you should be ok. Try reposting this in the Boats, Motors and other Equipment topic. Tom

    Jeff,
You didn't say what kind/size boat you're interested in but, a good friend of mine tells me the older (probably 60-70's) Evinrude 6hp is a great motor that runs forever and there are parts galor for them. If that fits your plan, I'd say go for it!

Thanks Guys,  I have moved this thread to the Boats, Motors, and other equipment topic.  Tom is right, it will probably get more answers there.

    Jeff
