Hi DevinY, well, the Sierra Vista area doesn't have a lot to offer. Parker Canyon has trout and northern pike. Patagonia Lake has sunfish, largemouth bass, and channel cats. Most of the large lakes are located in central  Arizona. I fish Lake Pleasant, Bartlett Lake, & Canyon Lake the most. Pleasant has largemouth bass, striped bass, white bass, channel cats, flathead cats,  crappie, & sunfish. Bartlett has largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, channel cats, & flathead cats. Canyon has largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow bass, walleyes, crappie, sunfish, trout, & channel cats. If you don't have one now , plan on getting a boat.  It certainly increases your odds of catching fish. Last Saturday I caught two  3# ,one 4# largemouths, and one 5# channel cat at Bartlett Lake. My last time out befotr that I caught a 25# flathead cat at Lake Pleasant. Hope thet gives you some idea of what to expect here. Good luck, and welcome to Arizona.

Hi Devin, MrMystery is right, not a great deal of water in that part of the state.  For trout streams one mostly has to go above the Mugollon Rim in Aprache country and towards Springerville.   A good source of information is azgfd.gov, the game & fish website.  I also bought  a book called the Arizona Road and Recreation Atlas which shows quite a bit of detail on the state.   Yes, parenthood can be scary but there will be joy in there also.   I have 8, soon to be 9 grandkids.  The bad part is that they all live somewhere else.

Hey all, another great source of information on Arizona fishing waters is "Arizona Fishin' Holes", available from Arizona game and fish department. Check out the website AZAllen mentioned. This booklett breaks the state down into regions, naming all the fishable water in each region, species inhabiting each water, maps of each region, and camping, stores, lodging, fuel, boating requirements, etcetera for each region.Very valuable source of info, I highly recomend purchacing this booklet.Hey AZAllen, I have 5 grandchildren, all within 10 miles of home.
