Camped at The Point campground. really crowded. We caught a lot of bluegill and green sunfish for flathead cat bait at night. While fishing with my 5/6 weight fly rod for sunfish I hooked a 6 pound channel cat. WOW! What a great fight on that rod. Later in the night I hooked what had to be a BIG flathead on my channel cat rig, a medium-heavy rod with a BPS Megacast MCM2000 reel with 175 yards of 17 pound test line. I couldn't turn the fish or stop it. After 60 to90 seconds it wrapped the line around a snag and I lost it.
Caught a yellow bullhead about 10 to 12 inches and a channel cat the same size as well. No bass this trip. Had fun with those two larger cats though.
