My wife is making noises about a trip to Disney World with the son and his family. I could care less about the park, but I understand there is some decent fishing nearby. Are there any Florida members that can clue me? I've fished Okeechobee, but that is a bit far. I'll fish for anything that is biting. Tom

Tom, there is a lot of water up that way. (I say up that way as I live down here in Cape Coral, 4 hours southwest of Orlando)

I know Lake Toho, Kissimmee, and other big name bodies of water are in that area.  I would say just to get on Google Earth or zoom in and out with mapquest or something.   Also, call some hotels in that area(toll free #'s) and find out if they have a pond or lake on or near their property.

Rick: Thanks for the info. I havn't seen any more of Orlando than the airport and what you can see out the plane window coming in or leaving. There is a LOT of water in that area. I'm hoping the wife finds a hotel with a fishable body of water in walking distance. I'll never forget going to King's Island Ohio for a wedding and being told that I shouldn't take my travel rod. Turns out there is a guests only lake at the hotel. Instead of fishing, I killed my spare time in the bar, much to the wife's displeasure. Tom

Thanks Barry. I don't need to set a record or even catch a ton of fish, just would like to kill a couple of days while the kids (my wife, son, daughter in law and grandkids) do the Donald and Mickey routine. Tom

Tom, Let them enjoy their thing because there are lots of good waters nearby. Just depends how brave you want to get. Right now the cold weather has things a bit stirred up, when are you planning on coming down?

tom if you are staying on disney property you can only fish with one of thier guides. i found that out a few years ago when i was down there. fortuanately i called ahead of time otherwise i probably would have ended up in a heap of trouble.

Duckman: I checked and you are partially correct. There are shore fishing opportunities that don't require a guide, but the only way to fish the on property lakes by boat is with one of their guides. Tom

Thanks for the response, but I have been back from Orlando for a while now. If  any of you Florida members are planning on being in the greater Chicago area, post in the Il section, if I can't take you out, at least I can point you in the right direction. Tom
