Hello all, I am planning an Orlando family vacation for middle of September 2010. I was hoping to do some Peacock bass fishing during this time. I live in central Ohio and would like to fish maybe two days. Does anybody have any recommendations? Looking forwrd to hearing back. Thank you.

Can't help with the Peacock, but I spent the first week of the month at Disney and was disappointed. Granted the weather stunk, but shore fishing is severely limited and an approved, on property guide is horribly expensive. If you hit the Florida FWS site www.myfws.com  they will send you a nice info packet on fishing the Orlando area. I requested too late and my info came the day I was leaving! There is a club member who guides nearby, check some of the old posts here. Tom

Hello, I will also be in Disney Sept 21-28. I wouldn't mind splitting the cost of a guided trip on or off Disney property.

Good luck and good fishing but don't forget the sun screen, bug spray, and stay very hydrated, especially if you got kids along.  It is really hot here in South Georgia.  My son just came home from south of Orlando and he said it was rough down there as well--best time as usual early morning/late afternoon.  Live shiners work well when you can get them but I am prone to lipless crank baits (worked them over a little earlier on Strike King's KVD lipless crank bait in the Gold Sexy Shad--didn't seem to matter what size) buzz baits, and did better than expected with the TV snake bait.  Let us know how your trip comes out.  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

I have watched several fishing shows on pecock bass in Florida and they are in south FL. around Miami in the canals but are not found any further north because of the cooler weather in the north part of the state. If the water is lower that 70 degrees they die.

Peacocks range from southern Palm Beach County south to Dade County (Miami).
The wrest of the state is too cold for them.
This winter was bad for them as well as other fish.

What is the best way to catch Florida Peacock Bass?  Do they have guides that specialize in Peacock Bass?  Would be great not to have to fly to Coasta Rica or out of the country.  I rather not have to travel too far.  Uncle Tom
